Vehicle Detail
Hello and thank you for looking at my post of this AWESOME 1976 Volkswagen HIPPIE BUS !!! There's a long story about my bus (I'll try to make it as short as possible)... I bought it about 2 years ago, in great condition, worked perfectly fine. A year or so later I got an oil change from a crook mechanic which ended horribly! They never put on (or put on the wrong one) an oil filter which caused my engine to seize up and the bus completely died =( I took it to the only place in town that said they could fix VW's, it was in the shop for 6 MONTHS and there the SECOND crook mechanic charged me a whole bunch of money and never actually fixed anything. He got the car to start, I drove it 5 miles down the road and it died.. again. Unfortunately I couldn't keep it there to make sure he fixed it right because I was moving, so I had to tow it. The new town I moved to fortunately had a mechanic specializing in VW's... they put in new heads, a new dual carburetor, new break lines, and a few other things. My bus ran well, but still not as great as when I first got it before the bad oil change. I drove it about 150 miles back to my old town, and it suddenly stopped on the side of the freeway =( Had to get it towed to a friend's house and did not have enough money, time (or a reliable mechanic to work on it) So in Bullhead City Arizona (zip is 86442) is where it currently sits. Somewhere along the lines of towing, something happened with the ignition to where the key won't stick in it anymore. I think it's an easy fix.. but I'm not sure. One tire is also flat, but I'll be selling it with 1 spare. So this bus definitely needs some work and TLC but it would be perfect for a good VW enthusiast and would be fun for a side project. I wish I didn't have to sell it, but I just don't have the time to fix it, and I've already put so much money into it that I just can't afford it anymore =( Good Things About The Bus: -The interior is almost in perfect condition. All original seats, I have seat covers on the front two, but the regular seats with original coverings are underneath. No noticeable rips or tears to my knowledge.-All the lights (headlights, interior lights, break lights) work perfectly.-It's got a cool little hippie design on the side with cool hubcaps. I planned on doing more but never got around to it. It might be uglyish on the outside but it has a lot of character! And with some love this bus could be AMAZING!-Horn works right-There's a sink and cabinet inside, I've never tried hooking up the sink, but I believe it has all the necessary parts to get it working. Other Stuff: -The mileage is unknown, the odometer doesn't work. -It's a pop top camper, with the top bed and the bottom seats that turn into a bed. I do not have the camper cover though.-Some minor minor rust, but nothing that's causing any real damage.-The exterior is primed and ready for pretty paint!-The A/C lighter adapter works and I've had many things (including a stereo) hooked up to it and it works great.-The air conditioner doesn't work but the heat does a little bit. As far as mechanic things go, I'm not real sure on everything, but if you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll try my best to answer them. This bus is sold AS IS with no guarantees expressed or implied. Buyer is responsible for pick up or shipping Thanks for looking at my post, and happy bidding! =)
