Vehicle Detail
This is the last year of the Touring Model which they tagged "The Ultimate Driving Machine". I am the second owner and this car has been babied since coming off the show room floor. I have all of the maintenence records from the original owner and also all oil changes and the parts I have listed below. I guarentee that when you drive this car it will be the smoothest ride you have ever felt, but with the power of a sportscar. All original paperwork w/ sticker price of $63,000 without wide screen nav. I have both keys/remotes, original owners package and newly updated Navigaion Discs for North America and Canada. I have almost all the receipts from the day it came off the lot, as far as manufacturer recommended maintenance and synthetic oil changes. No rips or tears in any leather, headliner or floor. Just normal wear on seats. Exterior is almost perfect. The car has 187,000 miles on it. I had sold it last month for $5,900 here on ebay but I took it for an oil change and my mechanic heard a clincking noise at the valve cover. So, I cancelled the deal and I took it to the BMW dealer and they told me at least one of the timing chain guards was broke. They gave me an estimate (see attached picture) for $7,800 to fix. Basically the engine has to be pulled and the whole top, bottom and front of motor has to be removed. I either had to sell as is, put a used motor or fix this one. My local mechanic did a compression test and the interior of the motor tested out in the high range (as good or better than a rebuilt or used motor would be). So instead of putting another used motor with 80-100,000 miles on it which may have the same timing chain issue in the near future, common on this motor. We decided to go ahead and do the repair per BMW dealer. This would include new chains, sprockets, guards, tensioners, all new gaskets all the way around, etc. Every item on the estimate. All being said this motor is as close to brand new as you can get without actually being so. Buying the parts direct from distributors and having my local mechanic do the work at $65 per hour rather than $105 at dealer saved around $2,700 off the estimate. The work cost me almost $5,000 and is still warrentied for 1 year, just as with dealer. These are other regular maintenence items done recently. Front tires- less than 2k miles Rear tires- less than 10k miles New Rotors and dustless brakes-less than 10k miles New Rear control arms and bushings-less than 10k miles New front bushings- less than 10k miles Used Alternator 1 year old Driver side door does not have an airbag, I hit a curb and it released and they wanted almost $1,500 for the replacement. All other air bags in place Dash lights have a few pixels that come and go, common on this car. Not on Navigation, just by speedometer. 3 inch crack on wood trim around stick shift, also common. I will add more pictures of the above items. I would not hestitate to drive this car back and forth across the United States if needed. I would drive it another 5 years but my littlest kid turned one and he has a bigger car seat. Now, I cannot put 3 car seats in the back. The reserve is at $9,000 which I think is a steal. I have 100% rating on ebay and have bought and sold my last 4 vehicles here. Give me a call to discuss any questions.
