Vehicle Detail
Here in this auction is a 1969 Dodge Charger Hardtop 318 V-8 Automatic Floor Console Power front Disc Brake & Rear 11 inch drums, Power Steering Car that has been professionally rebuilt to the stage as you see it in the pictures. The history on the car before we purchased the vehicle, this Dodge Charger sat in Virginia in a garage since 1981 Til 2005 where it was completely disassembled, Stripped Chemically for a ground up restoration. This car is not a numbers matching car as you will read further on that we have built this car to resemble an R/T with heavy duty equipment. The car started out to resemble Cale Yarboroughs white Charger but took a turn to be built for an Extremely High Performance General Lee replica. Just to say this, I have turned around the theory that General Lee cars are not built with salvage yard cars as everyone thinks as Warner Brothers used for the Show on Dukes of Hazzard. I have turned that thought around which why buy cars that are totally rotted? Doesn't make any sense to just restore the body, as you will find that this is a complete ground up restoration. The Beginning of Restoration: This car was placed on a rotisserie before restoration began to make it easier to perform a complete restoration. The engine, Transmission, body parts such as the hood, Doors, Glass, Trunklid, Fenders, Gas Tank, Interior, Grille, Rearend, leaf springs, front suspension was removed as well as the K frame before restoration began. The Charger's body was then chemically stripped then the undercarriage was totally stripped of the factory undercoating then Sand blasted clean. The undercarriage was treated with products of POR-15, which is a non-porous paint special for restoration to lock out moisture. The undercarriage was all treated with POR-15 Acid to Clean the surface to bond the POR-15 Black Paint. The Acid Cured for 72 hours in dry Climate. Later the POR-15 was sprayed on the undercarriage from front suspension to the rear. Body Parts Replaced: This car received the following brand new parts during restoration as follows: Brand New Left & Right Rear Quarters, Brand New Hood, Trunklid and a full one piece Trunk Floor all from Year One. The Trunk floor & rear quarters were professionally installed. Once the parts were installed then Acid & POR-15 was sprayed on the undercarriage as you read prior. The acid kills all rust & seals the metal so the POR-15 will bond. The Acid is the product or Por-15. www.Por-15.com for further information. After the body was free of paint & at the bare metal stage, the body was sealed in an Epoxy Primer Sealer, which further on was hand blocked then Vera Prime was added in stages, which were blocked in every stage or every layer applied to the car. Painted Areas: The Floor boards, inside the trunk area & trunk floor were primed then painted in a Snow White Pearl from Year One as well. The front fenders were also stripped then POR-15, then a Tie coat was add so the primer would bond to the POR-15, the inner lip on the fender where it bolts tot he chassis was primed then painted white before assembly to ensure every part was sealed to blend with the car. The undercarriage, wheel wells in the quarters & front fenders were professionally sprayed with Factory style undercoating by Year One. The K-Frame, Rearend & Rearend Suspension, front suspension all painted with high gloss black POR-15. This car was detailed in stages which makes the car just outstanding. Also the Engine Bay was primed in different stages of primer to seal the car. New Suspension Parts: The rearend was sandblasted as well before painting. The rearend has Brand New Richmond Axles & Brand New 4:10 suregrip gears in a #489 Carriage rearend. From Drum to Drum & inside the drums all brand new hardware, wheel cylinders, shows & brake drums. New seals were installed in the rearend. Brand New R/T Leaf Springs were installed. Front Suspension parts as follows: Tie rods, pitman arm, idler Arm, upper & lower ball joints, upper & lower control arm bushings installed, new wheel bearings & seals & new front rotors. The caliper is a 4 piston setup which the Brake Lines are all Stainless Steel. New Parts: Brand New Gas Tank, New fuel sending unit, new heavy duty dual air shocks installed, new rear leaf spring bushings installed. New Stainless Steal Gas Lines installed. New rubber bumper kits for doors, hood, Trunklid is included. Also New front Dual exhaust Pipes. Also a Free General Lee Decals Set & instructions how to apply will be included. Body: The body in the present time has been professionally painted after stages of hand blocking of primers then a sealer primer. Then blocked one last time. Completely wiped clean and air dried before painting the car in Hemi Orange by PPG Paints. The tail panel has been also painted in a Black. The car has cured in a 90 degree dry area. The car was wet sanded, then buffed with compound. Cleaned then polished to a high gloss mirror image, as you will see in the paint in the pictures. The front Valance & Hood not in the pictures have been primed & painted. The front Valance also has been undercoated. Behind where the headlights area has been sprayed POR-15 black as well. Interior & Parts included: Included are the Front Bucket Seats, Seat brackets, Rear upper & lower seat, Steering wheel & column, under the dash wiring intact, Dash intact, no dash pad. Outside Door handles, Glass except windshield, which was missing when I purchased the vehicle. Power Steering Pump, front & rear bumpers, rear bumper brackets, 1969 Dodge Charger R/T front grille in excellent to mint condition, Vacuum pumps for headlight doors, Console wiring, Rear tail lights & wiring. Hood Hinges were soda blasted then Primed, these will be included as well. Drivetrain: I have a 1969 383HP Block only & Main Caps that will go with the car. I do have a pair of 1969 906HP Cylinder heads loaded with valves & rocker arm assembly that will be included. The transmission is an 727 Torque Flight Automatic which will need to rebuilt as it came with the car which I have no knowledge how the transmission performed. Rebuilding to this stage it would be better to rebuild this transmission before installation. Also I have a 4bbl thermo Quad Carb and Radiator which these both will need to be rebuilt. There is a driveshaft loop bracket installed & painted. Driveshaft for the #489 with be included as well. Frame ties have been installed which they can be removed as they are only bolted in. Reason for these as I was going to install over 600 hp , which does not come with the auction. Summary: The car is Flat & Straight beautifully restored to this point, as you will see the Charger in the pictures. The paint has a high gloss mirror image. Wouldn't take much to finish this car. I do have an interior guy I can send you to complete the interior prior in picking up the car but the restoration of the interior is not included as well. The Hood will need to be wet sanded then buffed. There are a couple of spots that need to be touched up on the paint which will be professionally fixed which will be included in the auction. I have noticed that in the pictured it may looked like the brake lines were painted but the masking tape is still intact on the lines which the paint is on the tape. This is a very outstanding restoration on this car. Your preferences as a 1969 Dodge Charger muscle car or a General Lee Replica as the Decals haven't been installed so it the choice of the buyer. As you can see from the pictures & details in this auction, this isn't your ordinary restoration as most will only restore the body to a nice color but nothing else is rebuilt which they will be asking a huge price when upon purchasing. You will invest another $20-$30K in finishing the car on top of the purchase price of $20-28K.. Total investment realistically is nearing $58K.. Why spend the money later folks to disassemble to start restoration? This car will be a walk in the park to finish which will save you time & alot of investment further down the road. All the hard work is completed. As this car has sat in a secured & dry facility since painted. This would be a car that everyone would envy you around the cruise-in car shows & even different events. The 1969 Dodge Charger is a highly collector car for the body style. These cars are rare to find in this condition. Great for a father and son for a General Lee or just building your Dream muscle car. Purchase Seperately not included with the auction: I have a 1969 440 with 906HP heads that has been hot tank cleaned & magna fluxed. The heads are fully loaded which I have 2 guides installed & a new valve. Also I have the the 4 bbl intake, 6 pack connecting rods, Caps, Crankshaft been checked then turned .010 This engine at stock before boring with 906 HP heads push 375 hp. boring would be around 390HP+ I am assuming. I also do have valve covers, timing gear cover, balancer, & pulley, Water pump housing. You can have the professional engine builder finish it here but the buyer must pay for the completion of the labor & parts or purchase this outright as the engine described above. If you would like to purchase this engine with the car it can be arranged after the auction. Again this 1969 440 engine is not included with this auction. Payment: I require a $500.00 paypal down payt. 72 hours after the auction ends which is non refundable by paypal. If you don't have paypal, then $500.00 postal MO overnight Fed Ex would be accepted which is also not refundable. The balance must be paid in cash in person which I do not accept any other forms of payts. which must be within 7 days of end of the auction. Upon purchase I will need your phone number to work out any details. If transportation is a problem with your schedule then we can store the car up to 2 months until you are ready to transport. But the car must be fully paid. Any time after that the buyer will be responsible for all storage charges which must be paid in full before the car can be removed. I do have a Clear title in my hand. This auction doesn't require a paypal account where most auctions on here. Also this auction is open for questions as I have found other auctions that you can't ask questions which in my thoughts they are not being truthful in detail about the item. Ask as we want people to know what they are bidding & purchasing. On May-01-11 at 07:34:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Update: I am willing to add the 1969 440 Engine the way the engine is described in the paragraph specified "Purchased Seperately" in the auction if the reserve is met. You will get everything even the other 69 383HP block & 906HP heads. Also everything listed. Here's another option, if the color that you see on the car isn't the color you desire, as you see this paint job has a mirror finish I am willing to have the car repainted to your desire color which must be a one color stage with base coat /clear coat. I do have other pictures of the undercarriage where the Gas tank, Rear leaf springs & rearend has all been painted a high gloss Black POR-15.. I can't remove the pictures to add others so email me if you want to view these pictures to see how nicely in detail this car was painted. If I end the auction, I will assemble the car which at that point be offering the car in the 40k range. This car is absolutely beautiful. Partial trades & Cash maybe considered but no rusted out vehicles. For proof of what these cars are worth look under www.nadaguides.com I may consider an ATV such as Rhino, Mule, RZR, but must be 4wheel drive & Cash for this car. If you want the engine as specified than it can purchased seperately for $3900. not rebuilt or $6500 rebuilt with Keith Black pistons which will be painted of your choice of color through POR15 to maintain the color without fast fading due to heat.
