Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 1980 Fiat X1/9. With a little bit of work will be a really fun little car. It is the non-fuel injected (carb) model with a 5-speed manual transmission. The car had sat in a heated garage for the last 12 or so years until last year. As such, the body and underbody are in really solid shape for a Minnesota car of this age. Many new parts, including 4 new brake calipers, rebuilt carb, fuel lines, cap/wires/plugs, fuel filter, air filter, fuel pump, and new tires. Will need the gas tank to be cleaned to be drivable though. Although it will start and run right now, it can not be driven more than a few feet because of the fuel tank. Will absolutely need to be trailered home. When I did drive it around last year, it ran well, shifted through the gears smoothly, and maintained a nice operating temperature. Interior is in pretty nice shape for the age, although one of the seams on the drivers seat is coming apart and should be sewn back to prevent further damage. Most importantly, this car needs a paint job. The body is solid and not rusty at all, but the paint was horrible. Currently is has been sanded down and is ready for paint. Bottom Line: drop and clean the tank, maybe fine tune the carb, drive to Maaco for a $300 paint job, and you will have a really cool, solid, low-mileage summer car. Wish I had more time for it myself, but as you may be able to see from my pictures, I need to cull the herd a bit. On Apr-29-11 at 12:49:00 PDT, seller added the following information:***EDIT*** - I went outside and started it up toady, no problem. Let it idle for a few minutes. Had to be jump started, so I would assume the battery is no longer any good. Drove down the driveway just fine. I overstated the miles - it actually has only 71,000 miles, which can be verified by receipts. I wanted to repeat that this ABSOLUTELY will need to be trailered home and worked on a bit before driving!!! Hasn't seen a road in a year and a half, so will likely have some bugs to work out!!! Have manuals and receipts included - previous owner had timing belt changed.
