Vehicle Detail
Here's a rare opportunity on a 1954 Packard Convertible! Definitely needs a lot of work but well worth it. To those of you who were following or bidding on my previous listing of this car that I ended prematurely, please accept my apologies. An issue arose that is now resolved. I am now selling the matching parts car seperately, it would be a great source for some rare convertible top parts or the 359 drivetrain. This is an original black with red interior car. Great combination. Best I can determine this car has been in dry storage since at least 1988, probably much longer. Among the many loose parts is a new carpet kit and a convertible top kit dated from then. Car is pretty complete, say 90%. Anyways, here's what I see: Rust is mostly in the rockers and the rear quarters. Someone started to install repair panels on the quarters, one still to be done (it's included). Not sure where they were sourced from. The doors, hood and trunk lid are solid. The driver's front fender has just a very little bit on the bottom. The passenger front fender has significant rust but an extra fender is included to replace it with. The rear fender skirts are present and OK. The floors amazingly are still reasonably solid, just one small (1/2") spot I noticed. Trunk floor is fine too. Definitely some work here but it is very restorable. The interior appears complete, gauges in decent shape. Some extra pieces in the trunk. Attractive dash! The engine is a proper 359, currently has a 327 head on it. There is a proper aluminum 359 head included though. I'm not sure if they were preparing to change the head or what, but the oil lines are not all hooked up, some other engine components removed (but included). Engine is not stuck. I don't have the proper air cleaner. Automatic transmission. There are some extra trim pieces in the trunk, handles, lenses for the grill lights etc, some from a Clipper too I think, Please see the photos, but there are many items not shown here in this listing. I can forward more photos if requested (I'll need an email address). Windshield needs replaced, I'm told Kanter (?) has them. NOT ALL PARTS ARE SHOWN IN THESE PHOTOS, I CAN FORWARD PHOTOS IF REQUESTED, I'll need an email address. In conclusion, I think this is a mighty stylin car, very worthy of a refurbishment. Questions?, email or call me, Doug 937 231 0193. I'll do my best to answer but I am not a Packard expert. I always recommend a personal inspection when possible but I also hope my feedback rating gives some assurance I'm not out to waste your time (or mine) with some funny business. Thanks for looking! On Apr-26-11 at 16:19:27 PDT, seller added the following information: Please note, I forgot that the last two photos shown are of my parts car that is also for sale seperately. Sorry for any confusion, I meant to delete them and now I cannot. On Apr-28-11 at 19:11:20 PDT, seller added the following information: Please read this! I went to the Ohio title bureau with my notarized NY Bill of sale and my duly executed State of Ohio "Out of state inspection" paperwork to get my title for this car. I've done this on several occasions with even lesser documentation. As you may know NY does not issue titles on vehicles this old. Well Ohio now wants me to also get either a past registration from the previous NY owner or a past insurance slip from the same. This car has not been on the road in decades-----that point seems lost on the !@#$ beauracrats here. An old registration does not exist. I have an attorney looking into this for me but I am sorry to say I can only provide a Bill of Sale presently on this car. I apologise, this was not my intention. The state of Ohio apparently has reached new levels of obsurdity.
