Vehicle Detail

This is an awesome 1959 Edsel Corsair 2 dr hardtop. What better color for an Edsel but pink and white two tone! Lets face it, an Edsel just looks better in pink. This is my cousins car and she has named it Eddie. Eddie runs, rides and drives great. It is all stock except the tires are now 15". I believe it came with 14's. Tires are in great shape. It starts right up and takes right off when you put it into drive. The wiper motor is out but she said she thinks she has one laying around for it. If not just Rain X the windshield like she does and you are good to go. The windshield is cracked on the passenger side where it curves around like they did back then. The interior is ok. The drivers seat has some tape repairs on the edge. But as a whole the seats really aren't bad. The stock seat covers are easy to get though. If this was mine I would probably recover the front but would leave the rear alone. The piece of chrome moulding missing on the front of the hood in the pic is in the car. The car is virtually rust free. On the lower rear of the front fender there are small bubbles in the paint. This car has not been restored. It is a survivor. The drivetrain has not been redone as far as she knows and as far as I could tell. It could use an exhaust manifold gasket on the drivers side. What her friend did was to stuff some steel wool where the gasket is gone and it runs almost silent. Even the exhaust system is good. The car is sitting in NE Montana, Scobey, at the museum old town area. That is where she leaves it parked pretty much year around. It's parked with the antique tractors and comes out for the old equipment displays during the summer. During the summer she does drive it around when she comes to town to visit her mother. It is her only transportation during those times so it is dependable for a daily driver in a small town. The paint is getting weak here and there, but I would just wax it up, vacuum it out and enjoy it. This is how it was built and how it was meant to be. They are original only once and to have one that isn't rusted out is rare in itself. The purchaser will get a clear title with the car.On Apr-24-11 at 05:30:04 PDT, seller added the following information: I have been asked several times about a pickup timeframe. There is none. It's fine right where its sitting, just leave the keys so it can be moved out for the annual Pioneer Days events. Its always out with the old cars.On Apr-27-11 at 19:33:57 PDT, seller added the following information: Data plate info is as follows: VIN D9UW720656, Body 63B, Color GE1, Trim 51, Date 15A, Trans 3 and Axle 5.On Apr-28-11 at 05:19:09 PDT, seller added the following information: Now that we have the VIN and data plate info here is what the car is. The engine code is "W" the 361 Super Express, 303 HP and 390 torque. The trans is "3" the 2 speed Mile O Matic, it shifts as it should. The rear axle is "5" 291 gears. A perfect finish for the Mile O Matic and the Super Express V8. The interior is a two tone black, one shade is kind of a dark grey. Now I remember it is a vinyl and cloth mix like the decoder listed. The exterior color is stock to the car and I think is probably mostly original also. Pink with a white top and a white insert down the side. People have asked me if I would drive it here and there and the answer is I am adventuresome so yes I probably would. I would keep in mind what I am driving and bring along some tools just in case. Anymore if I wonder if I should do this or that and am not sure I just figure out what is the worst thing that can happen. The car breaks down? Then I just fix it or go back to the plan of having it shipped home. Eddie runs good. It does have that exhaust manifold leak. Either replace it or just stuff some steel wool in there and maybe some JB Weld and let it sit for awhile and then take off. I have also been asked about the keys. Yes, it does have the original Edsel key. Edsel only produced 2315 of these 2 door hardtops and most I have seen come across the sites are junk. I would guess there are few left and there are certainly very few left that are survivors, unrestored, in the condition of this car. If I was to buy this car, all I would do is replace the front seat cover, just the bottom I think, fix the exhaust manifold gasket, replace the wiper motor and wax or maybe a light buff and start driving and enjoying it.
