Vehicle Detail
Full custom old school sled. This is a 1954 2dr Hardtop Bel Air. It was pretty much stock and already painted when I purchased it. The paint was a 6 out of 10 at best so I flattened it with Scotchbrite and added a bit of pinstriping. The car features the following: Freshly rebuilt SBC 350 with finned aluminum valve covers, oil pan and air cleaner, Billet Specialties belt system, Chrome 100amp Alt and Edelbrock intake and carb. Its cooled with an aluminum radiator and a thermostatically controlled electric pusher fan. Freshly rebuilt TH350 Automatic with B&M shift kit, new torque converter and Lokar shifter. Complete Air Suspension system installed by one of the founders of KP Components, Inc. featuring triangulated 4-link in the rear and Mustang II style front with tubular control arms, rack and pinion steering, drilled and vented front disc and drum rear brakes on a mid 80s Camaro rear end. The frame is notched with a Gambino step notch and air management includes 2 chrome Viair 380 compressors, 2 chrome 4 gl tanks, a GC Comfort Ride 8-way manifold valve, 6" Slam Specialties bags up front and 7" Contitechs in the back, 2-dual needle KP gauges and 4 corner switches. Shocks mounted in all for corners. New Chevelle power brake system and pedal assembly installed along with new 14" chrome steelies with new radial tires and Porta-wall white wall simulators. A new raised rear floor section was fabricated to allow the 4-link to clear when the car is aired out and still use the factory rear seat. entire floor was stripped and painted with silver POR-15 and the Dynomatted. The dash was modified to accommodate the air gauges and then painted satin black. it has a 55 Chevy steering wheel on a early 60s Cadillac tilt telescoping column. the wheel was modified so that the column telescopes. A billet dash insert houses a complete set of Dolphin gauges and the car has been completely rewired using an EZ-Wire harness. The interior is all new. seat frames were sand blasted and painted before being wrapped in new foam and beautiful old school tuck and roll black and white vinyl. Dual exhaust including coated headers and Flowmaster mufflers run all the way out the back, under the axle so the car can lay out. Front and rear bumpers have been re-chromed and a few more teeth added to the grill. Front grill and door handles could use a re-chrome but they are presentable. All stainless below the belt line has been removed. Hood molding has been removed and they didn't weld it solid so the filler is cracking. There is some rust on the rear panel under the trunk lid where it held water from a bad trunk seal, but the rest of the car is rust free. It does not currently have door or trunk weatherstripping installed. There is no heater or air conditioner and it needs a wiper motor. This car runs great and I would drive it anywhere. New paint would make this a show car but I prefer it as a daily driver. I've put about 1K miles on it since I built it with no problems at all. Good luck and ask questions if you have them. I have tons of pictures of the build. I can deliver this car up to 300 miles of me in an enclosed trailer if you hit the "buy it now" otherwise, I'll work with you. You can see more pictures and comments about the build on my Hub Garage page here http://www.hubgarage.com/mygarage/Mindbender/vehicles/62721 On Apr-27-11 at 09:08:43 PDT, seller added the following information: I was driving the car this past weekend and while cruising down the freeway at about 75mph I lost a section of one of the Portawalls. I guess they aren't made for those kinds of speeds for long periods of time. I think I'm just going to remove them and run blackwalls. I 'll give the buyer the option if they would rather have me replace the torn Portawall. This car runs down the road like a newer car with this upgraded suspension and the tires are all new, but I think the Portawalls, (originally designed for VW) just cant handle freeway speeds for long periods of time.
