Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on an Austin Healey Sprite that has SCCA H-production race history going back to the early '70s. The car number (AN5L 1544)suggests that this is a very early example of the Bug-eye marque. The log book number is 63-003 and according to the log with the car it was raced in VA,NC and GA (Old Dominion Region). There is a 948cc engine and rib case four speed in the car. The head and bottom end of the engine have had some performance work done. We have been able to turn the engine to a point where we established that all four cylinders have good compression and leak down characteristics. There are four "American Racing Equip" magnesium wheels (not knock-offs) with Avon take-off race tires mounted. The body tub is fairly sound and straight, a solid car with only minor rust thru. The bonnet is steel and also needs a good panel-beater's treatment. Be advised that there will be lots of of work required to get this car back to race trim. But you will own a piece of early SCCA racing history and it's ready to convert to a fun Vintage racer. This car is being offered by Southside British Cars in VA on an as-is where-is basis but we can also offer to provide race preperation, engine build and chassis/body set up services and pricing if desired.
