Vehicle Detail
RARE - 1976 HONDA GL 1000 in Very Good Condition with only 16K miles. I bought this great motorcycle 2 years ago from the original owner in New Hampshire. It is completely stock except for the King/Qween Saddle Seat. The bike starts and runs good...but could use a tune-up. I rode it all last summer and it has that awsome flat-four sound through the original dual exhaust. I'm only selling it a help finance a complete restoration of a 1967 CL 305 Scrambler. This bike has a clean New York title and must be picked up in Schenectady NY 12307. Many people do not know that one of the prototypes for the GL 1000 that was displayed in 1974 was in Sulpher Yellow. In 1975 the color was not offered so Honda did a special run of 5,000 Yellow bikes in 1976! It is the one to have and it causes a sensation on the street. All paint and chrome is original...there is a little pitting hear and there but overall now bad. This is the nicest survivor, unrestored 1976 GL 1000 that I have ever seen. I collect Hondas and drive many hours to get this beauty. I will post the bulk of the photos on Monday and please ask if you would like a particular shot placed in the ad. Email me with any questions and the bike is sold as-is because of it's age. A factory shop manual, new top of the line timing belts, and some other odds-and-ends are included! The bike also has Brand New Dunlop Tires! RARE! RARE! --------------- only 5,000 Ever Made!On Apr-20-11 at 16:58:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Features of this unique motorcycle...an emergency kick starter peddle is stored inside the right-side tank cover and the electronics are under the left-side cover. The bike was so advanced as a cruiser that if the low beam headlight bulb went out, the system would automaticly switch to the high beam and dim the power. It would do the same thing with the tail/brake light. The frame is extra-heavy-duty to allow the mounting of fairings, cases, and racks to convert it into a true long distance touring machine. The factory DID aluminum rims are also stronger than normal. The twin front brake calipers provided excellant stopping ability. I will be adding photos tonight and tomorrow so keep checking back.On Apr-20-11 at 19:41:35 PDT, seller added the following information: Hi: I finally made the time to put detailed pictures of the Yellow 1976 GL 1000 on-line. Please check them out…it is a beautiful bike. It has always been stored inside and has little to no sun fade! I took the exhaust off and painted it. Some of the photos show the exhaust before a painted it today. The original owner kept the chrome polished but never repainted the pipes and mufflers. It bugged me so I did it. Thanks to all of you for bidding on my motorcycle. ScottOn Apr-20-11 at 22:14:18 PDT, seller added the following information: I was off by a factor of 10! Only 500 were ever made! Not 5,000
