Vehicle Detail

1931 Ford Model A "Vicky" Victoria For Sale This is a 1931 Ford Model A Victoria that has a great history. Purchased new in the Los Angeles area, it spent the first 49 years of it's life as the daily driver of a woman that used it for her trips here and there in the city of Santa Ana, right in the heart of Orange County California. In 1979 it was purchased by the current owner in the condition you see it here. The car was used for a fun weekend toy for the next three years, and then it went into storage in the dry California desert in an airplane hangar...and it remained there for the next 32 years. Here is the car as it emerged from it's hibernation...again out in the California sun. A bit dusty, but good storage out of the sun and weather treated it quite well. It shared the space with some other wonderful machines such as this Center Door Model T (which we will be auctioning soon) Grandpa and Grandma sitting together after all these years! For now the T will sit just a little longer with the other treasures while the Model A has it's day in the sun at last. Even under the dust it looks good! That first bath in so many years was a wonderful experience...for car and washer! The car cleaned up well with a good bath and hand polish. Handles are in fine shape The steering wheel and controls Interior was redone in a textured vinyl many many years ago and it has held up wonderfully. The little engine that could... did. After that many years, a fresh battery, some lube down the cylinders and she fired right up. The engine idles so smooth and slow...such a great sound. The carb will probably need a rebuild and some new plugs and such might be a good idea as well. The engine sputters a bit when you give it the gas, so it will need a little "tuning" But the bottom end and valve train sound fantastic. The body on the car is very very straight and the color combination is fantastic. The engine room shows some signs of radiator spray from many years ago. There is a bit of a leak at the water pump shaft...I think if it was re-packed it would be fine. The transmission seems to work very well and the clutch is good. The battery is on loan from another vehicle...so plan to grab one of those. Things are dirty under here but thanks to a life in dry California, it appears to be wonderfully solid. The car is really an unrestored survivor...sure it has been resprayed and the interior redone but everything else looks wonderfully untouched. The rear mounted spare and that rounded back of the Victoria body are so nice. Dash looks completely original and untouched. Carpets were replaced and are holding up decently. The interior is in very nice shape and the material is super durable This is a great one to take the kids for a ride in (or dog, or mother in law...) Headliner is excellent. The door pockets have stretched out, but that is really the only notable sign of wear to the vinyl. Cushions are solid and the seats look great. The glass is all in very good shape as well. The paint of course is old and shows some age, and at the time it was painted, it was not a restoration quality job...but it appears to have protected the body quite well. So cute. The cowl lights, the wiper, the windshield that opens for ventilation... There are chips and scratches here and there but it still looks presentable just as it is. The chrome looks pretty good and with a little polish it will be even nicer. The vinyl top is coming back to life with a little vinyl treatment...it's soaking it up a little. A couple more applications and it should remain nice and black. The tires are certainly old and age cracked, but they seem to be holding pressure. The headlights are the sealed beam conversion units with the Ford logo on the housing. A couple more interior shots. This has been dusted off but not treated yet. That swoop of the fender is just fabulous...this is a wonderful era for automobiles. Black California plates have been on the car since 1963. Small ding on this fender edge...not much to it though. The wiper works by the way! The worst spot paint wise is the top panels of the hood...it has flaked up here pretty good. The horn works...lights too (one headlight bulb is out...but the wiring is hot, so swap the bulb and you are good to go) The cowl lights did not seem to light up and we have not traced that. Peep mirror... all the windows roll up and down smoothly and the doors close very soundly. I love the old American Flag sticker in the side window! In closing it really is a delightful car. It is an older (very older) restoration cosmetically, and it does show it's age, but it shows it well. Mechanically it feels good but will need some tuning before you start driving it, and the tires should definitely be replaced for safety. It is the desirable Victoria model and with it's solid body and underbelly and fantastic fully known history this is one not to miss. Bid Big and Bid Often! Don't let her get away!
