Vehicle Detail
It’s only original once! First year of production, un-restored 1971 Candy Topaz Orange Honda CT70H-K0 with 1,329 miles. While most vintage Trail 70s have three-speed automatic transmissions, this one is the less common “H” model with a 4-speed transmission and manual clutch. I purchased this bike for my wife in 1998 from an old-timer in Arizona who kept it at his vacation home there. My wife had one exactly like it as a kid and I was sure it would be the perfect nostalgic gift. What was I thinking? She’s never ridden it and it’s been taking up room in my garage ever since. It has always been stored indoors, is in excellent overall condition and appears to have never been used off-road. It is not a show bike—it has some honest cosmetic wear and paint scratches from normal use and some light surface rust under the fenders. The decals are scratched a bit but I have a brand new set I will include with the bike. The engine starts first kick and does not smoke. It runs perfectly and pulls strongly and smoothly through the gears. The original exhaust is quiet and the metal is in very good condition with only a few places showing light surface rust. The clutch and transmission are perfect. The bike has a new battery, new head and tail light bulbs and a NOS Honda tool kit. The headlight, handlebar switch and high-beam indicator work properly, as do the taillight, brake lights and horn. The front tire is the original Nitto, the rear was replaced by the previous owner with a Chen Shin that matches the original tread pattern; both are in very good condition. I also have a brand-new set of tires I will include with the bike. The seat cover is in fair shape with one tear about 2” long near the front. The seat pan has some small cracks around the tool pouch holder but seems fine otherwise; the bars are straight with good chrome. It also has the somewhat hard-to-find accessory luggage rack. I have one original Honda ignition key for the bike. I have a valid California Title. It is currently registered with the California DMV as non-operational. I will include the official California DMV custom license plate (CT70H) with the bike. Buyer can pick up in Pasadena CA area or I can deliver to the shipping agent of your choice as long as it’s within a reasonable distance from Pasadena/Los Angeles, CA. Shipping to lower-48 USA only. Buyer will need to make shipping arrangements and pay shipping charges and insurance to cover the amount of the winning bid. (I have had good luck using Forward Air with previous motorcycle sales.) Most CT70 OEM and aftermarket replacement parts are still available from Honda dealers and vintage Honda specialists like CHP in Tyler, Texas and Northeast Vintage Cycle in New York. There are many reproduction parts including seats, bars, cables, keys, decals and paint. If you have any questions please ask before bidding. I can send additional photos if needed. Good luck!
