4/15 UPDATE: As of today the MB5 has been listed locally for sale, so auction may end at any time if no bids are placed. 4/16 UDPDATE: Bidder that took a test drive noted that tachometer is not working, but odometer and speedometer are fine. Where were you in 1982? Watching Knight Rider on your VCR made you feel pretty cool, didn't it? Or maybe you liked cruising around all night, singing along to Donnie Iris in your Plymouth Turismo? Still- You probably weren't truly cool until your friends saw you screaming down the street on a bright red, 5 speed, 50 cc motorcycle- occasionally, at speeds of up to 47 miles per hour. That's right. The MB5 was the ultimate 80's motorized super toy. It's not a moped. It's not a scooter. OK. Now the important disclosures: It does have a key. It does need to be registered. It does need to be insured. And the size of its engine will keep you off major highways. No 405, 5, 10, 170, etc. It is missing the right side mirror. The tires are fine, but not new. You will probably want to replace them at some point. The brakes are fine, but also, not new. I would recommend an update in their future as well. This motorcycle is currently registered and has always been registered to my knowledge. A least it has since I have owned it (bought in 2004). I have taken excellent care of it since I have owned it, but only had the gas tank reworked. Two years ago I paid too much for a tank restoration that could have been better. Still, it looks good and is functional. This motorcycle had been dumped once or twice before I got hold of it. Never dumped since, but it has some minor scratches and dings. The direction signals are not functioning because of a problem that appears to be a broken switch. I'm pretty sure (but not positive) that the problem with the signals would be fixed by a replacement. The headlight is only working on high beam. I do not know if this is a problem with the bulb or otherwise. The clutch, chain, mechanicals, and fuel system still function perfectly. Pictures were posted this morning (4/13)- Gassed it up and it started up literally on the fourth kick - Video of me riding it this afternoon on YouTube Here: But seriously, if you have a small space and want to rework the few minor details, you can own a cheap motorcycle that runs well, sips gas, costs practically nothing to insure, possesses retro-hipster coolness, and can even save you money on the bus if you live in the valley and take it to work every day that it does not rain. Did I mention it is easy to park anywhere? Good luck bidding. Motorcycle is available to be seen, but NOT for test rides without a valid CA motorcycle class license. I will try and answer my phone and any email questions promptly. A Haynes manual is included with the purchase.
