Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1951 Buick Rat Rod. The most notable feature is the 4” chop top. There is no headliner. The car has not been driven for a year and has been sitting outside for that year. I just took the pictures of the car and unfortunately there was a dead mouse on the floorboard of the passenger side, meaning that the car has a bit of a stench currently and is being sold as a project. The car was parked under its own power and ran well a year ago. It was used mainly as a local cruiser, and I would not recommend a long trip unless on a trailer. The car has no trim, all trim holes welded. The car has a train horn with dual compressors and a 1 gallon tank. It has the straight eight original engine and the original 2 speed auto transmission. It has home depot carpet for the floor and door-panels. The car has modern shocks in the rear. The car has polycarbonate windows but the rear right side is cracked. In-person inspection is encouraged. The car has 89 Lincoln Towncar power seats in the front and they used to work, not sure if they still do. Back seat is also from the Towncar. It has been converted to 12V with 1-wire alternator with a battery in the trunk. It has caddy taillights that are frenched along with frenched headlights. Gas gauge doesn’t work. Car will also need a battery. Car has shaved handles that I doubt will work. Had problems with relays, but if the relays were replaced, they would probably still work. I had lots of fun with the car taking it to local shows. It even won People’s Choice Award at one show. I have had my fun with the car and now it is ready for someone else to have their fun. The car is for sale locally and I reserve to end the auction early. The car is sold AS IS, WHERE IS with no written or implied warranty. It is the buyer’s responsibility to inspect the car prior to bidding is he/she wishes to do so. Shipping is the buyer’s responsibility. If there are any questions, feel free to call (815)560-1297 during reasonable hours or through email. On Mar-27-11 at 20:24:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Due to overwhelming questions regarding if the car runs, I have jumped the car and IT DOES RUN. It fired right up. Turns out that there was a battery in the trunk which isn't totally shot, probably will take a charge. Also uploaded a video of the car running and added pictures of the car with working lights and a shot of the trunk. The Heinekeg was part of a smoke system. There is a heinekeg that would be filled with smoke oil and then a pump in the bottom right of the picture that pumps the oil to the hot exhaust manifold, but it is disconnected due to the smoke oil constantly running into exhaust. Could probably be fixed quite easily. All the parts are there to finish. I took a quick video of the car running tonight and it can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRFk2Hr9n20 Needs a tune-up, but that's expected. I threw it in gear and it rolled forward and back, but I couldn't really get a good idea due to it being parked in. Please feel free to continue asking questions.
