Vehicle Detail

I bought this motorcycle from the second owner to resell. It had been in storage in his garage since 1979,that is the last year it was registered in Massachusetts.I have the clear Massachusetts title, the bike had 3379 miles when this person bought it in 1975,it now reads 10,651 miles.I put in a new battery, checked all the fluids and it started right up.I drove it around my shop and on the road,up to about 40 mph.It seemed to run, drive and shift fine. The previous owner had sprayed the chrome with oil and I gave it a quick clean up,it still needs more cleaning and detailing. Most of the chrome is pretty nice, the most noticeable pitting is on the brake caliper cover and the luggage rack. The guy took very good care of the bike,he is now 82 years old and wants the bike to go to a good home.He put on the custom Corbin seat and trumpet exhaust.I have the original seat and exhaust which go with the bike. The carbs were rejetted for the exhaust and I also have the old jets as well as OEM oil filters and misc. parts. The paint on the tank is a bit faded on top since the bike was parked near a window.Underneath on the center stand the black paint is flakey but otherwise the paint is quite nice. The fella also had an original factory type service manual which goes with the bike, also there are sales brochures and magazine stories about this bike.He had drained the gas and so the carbs seems to work fine,it has great power and idles nicely. The neutral and headlight high beam lights on the dash do not work and the turn signal switch is kinda crabby, probably needs to be cleaned, the horns are there but they do not work. The fairing is not real pretty and is missing the windshield, one mirror head is missing also. These are little things, but I have to mention them, basically it seems like a nice bike. The tires have great tread and are not weather cracked but I know they are at least 32 years old,not very safe for the road.I will work with the buyer to help with loading the bike, new owner will be responsible for pick up arrangements within 30 days, payment must be made within 5 days, thanks for looking, any questions please email before bidding. On Apr-11-11 at 16:53:24 PDT, seller added the following information: Another couple things that have come to mind from questions asked are,the bike does have electric start and it seems to work well, there is a reflector missing on the end of the oil cooler,it can be seen in the pictures and there is one tiny dimple in the front fender on the back lower edge, hardly noticeable.
