Vehicle Detail

This is an original, very rare, 1971 Dolphin Industries, Peanut model, Dune Buggy Kit buggy which was manufactured in Pompano Beach, Florida in 1971, which was built over a 1966, 1600cc beetle chassis, with 18,000 miles, weighing just a little over 1,300 lbs., converted to a 12-volt electrical system. It was built for a woman by her co-workers, (father & son project), and she had owned it for 25-years, keeping it well maintained, (never driven much). I purchased it about 15-years ago and haven't driven it much either, except for Sunday drives and cruise-ins. The Red Metal-Flake still looks pretty good for it's age! (some fading areas) with no cracks in the body. This has a removable top, with new side windows (zippers and snaps) I had made several years ago, but never used. The original ones were pretty well deteriorated. The white interior is near excellent, with only one small (about an 1" square) tear in the bucket seat. The bucket seats, I believe slide on the original vw chassis tracks, and are removable by sliding off the tracks, and have several recline positions. Has nice 14" SS Cragars in the front and 15" x 10" S/S Cragars in the rear ( which are showing some aging) Rear tires are Mickey Thompson N50's (13-inches wide) which are very nice shape. The motor runs and sounds great and is very strong. Motor uses no oil or no signs of any smoke and drives down the road great. The chassis is very clean with no rust and the floors seem very solid. This is currently licensed, and the horn, turn signals, brake lights, head lights, (high/low beams), 2-speed wipers, all work, along with the emergency brake. The fuel guage never did work and never looked for the reason why. The headlight buckets and exhaust does have some chrome deterioration as can be expected for it's age, along with the carpet. Since I owned it, it had new brakes, new front brake hoses, king pins & bushings, tie-rod ends, fuel pump, and rear wheel bearings. I have it currently licensed and insured through Grundy's Antique Collector Car insurance. This is a very clean and sharp looking dune buggy which is fun to drive and attracts a lot of attention! This is basically an original 1971 survivor dune buggy which is in great condition for it's age! This has been adult owned and cared for and has only been driven a few months out of the year, because of our climate conditions here. Any questions, please contact me @ (607) 773-8748. I will only ship if you make all the arrangements, but will help. My zipe code is 13903. The buggy has a NYS transferrable registration. The reserve is set very low. I am in my mid-fifties, and think that I have out--grown it, (lol). It's finally time to let some else have all the fun! So, Happy Bidding!
