Vehicle Detail
for auction is this hard to find 1968 Dodge Charger project car. 68-70 chargers are the most sought after of any muscle car, and are getting extremely hard to find with good frame rails in restorable condition. This car is a 383 2 barrel car originally, auto transmission. It has been sitting in a barn since 1983, and shows i believe 59k on the odometer. The motor and trans are likely the numbers matching originals, but i have not checked to see. The engine was last started around 1990 and i have not checked anything with the drivetrain. It may crank in a weekend of work, or it may be locked up and need a complete rebuild. I'll let you have the fun with finding out! The car was owned by an old man who passed away a few years back and i just recently acquired the car. It will need some work but is very restorable, and has nice frame rails, which is a HUGE plus on a unibody car like this. The car will need a roof skin, that is the worst area on the entire car. the back window was taken out years ago and allowed water to eat the channel out around the rear window. AMD makes the roof skin. It needs lower quarters, and some floor work. rear tail panel is in good shape, decklid looks good as well, rear lower valance does need replaced. the grill is original and in amazing condition. fenders are useable, hood i would replace. it has some rust underneath the hood. inner fenders and under hood look good and original, doesn't appear to have ever been in an accident. car rolls and steers fine, and is 99% complete. it wears original paint so nothing hidden on this car, the body lines are nice and crisp. i DO have the back glass and the other glass not seen in photos, they go with the car. The interior is all there but obviously does need to be restored. I have not checked the back seats for a build sheet, the front buckets were changed out years ago for 70 buckets because he thought they were more comfortable(i have to agree-i've changed out lots of 68-69 charger bucket seats for 70 buckets) the car will be sold NO RESERVE so bid to win! bill of sale only the title for this car was lost years ago. there are no liens and it has been off the road for almost 30 years so DMV does not have a record of it in the system anymore. If you have any questions please ask. someone will get a great project car, i put no reserve and the BIN is a steal for you early birds. Thanks and good luck!
