Up for sale is my Westy Weekender. She's been my dependable daily driver for 6 years now, and mechanically is in excellent condition. Replaced the engine when I bought her instead of getting the rust and body work done, and consequently, she runs like a bat out of hell ( for a Westy) but looks her age on the outside, as you can see from the pictures. I would like to see her go to an enthusiast, who will take the time to fix her up cosmetically to where she is mechanically. It's been a GREAT road vehicle, very dependable on long road trips, very convenient w/ the Weekender configuration, (no stove, fridge or sink, instead a jump seat, table, cabinets and Dometic ice chest refrigerator which is included and works great...) and has been a blast to own. I originally had the full intention of getting the body work finished, and getting it painted, but opted instead to make it mechanically reliable. Ok, the BAD: Rust in ALL the usual places, some bad, some very bad. I took pics of all the cancer, and there is quite a bit. Nothing that cannot be restored, I just do not have the time anymore.... Rear heater dash control knob is loose, but works fine. The white plastic housing on the inside is cracked, so I've got it hanging there.... One of the environmental control levers is off its track......I think it's the one that controls if the vents are open on your feet or dash. Conveniently, it's stuck in the middle so it's never bothered me. Heat and cold are fine as is defrost... That's about it. The GOOD: Runs absolutely perfectly. Does not leak coolant. Does not leak oil. Heat in winter works fantastic, front and back. Air conditioner works but needs a recharge. Pop Top in near perfect original condition. Pop top has a brand new screen, as does the skylight. Rare blue interior w/ gray tweed cloth which was only offered in 1987. (The rest were all brown and beige.) All cabinet doors work perfectly, as does the fold up table and jump seat storage. New Hankook rated tires all around. Upgraded Volkswagen alloy wheels. Dometic ice box refrigerator works perfectly, and bolts to the floor behind the passenger seat. Passenger seat can be reversed for more seating area whils camping. Has three additional plug-in sockets located next to the passenger seat. Nice Rockford Fosgate rear speakers. GREAT for camping. Comes w/ a cool Vanagon front bra........ Ok, I've described her as best I can. she really is a great dependable Vanagon who needs some TLC. Check out some pictures, and if anyone has any questions, I'll be happy to answer. In case you want to know why after 6 years am I selling my Westy that I SWORE I would never sell.........My wife and I bought a '99 Cherokee, and one of the vehicles has to go........or so I've been told. This makes camping very comfortable, sleeping w/ the door open and no worry of pesky bugs...... Zips down in the middle. The rear hatch screen is also included and is in good original shape. NO tears in pop top canvas. Took her to Arkansas and back last Fall, and would feel confident driving her anywhere at anytime. Ready for camping! She really is that f'n cool. Relisted due to a buyer w/ no real intent to buy.....booo!
