Vehicle Detail

For sale a quite rare Saab classic 900S. There were only 650 of these 2 doors with a trunk brought into the US and only in the 1985 and 1986 model years. This is the platform that Saab used for the early convertibles which came out in 1986. Most of the clasic 900s were 3 doors with a hatch, or 4 door sedans. This car is a 1986 900S. The "S model" was up upgrade from the base model and came with sunroof, power windows and alloy wheels. In 1986 Saab introduced the normally aspirated 16 valve engine which also came in the "S" model. The base cars still came with the 8 valve engine. I bought this car in November from the original owner. It has spent it's entire life in Washington state and has been garaged through out. There are no rust issues on this car. The car has never been in a collision and has never been smoked in. Interior is excellent, headliner is original and just has very slight sagging in the back corners. You have to look real hard to find a crack in the dash (there is 1, no longer than 1/4" in speaker corner). The man I bought it from stated that it had been his wife's car and she passed away 7 years ago. He kept the car as a second car and it saw limited use these last 7 years which may have led to the need for some of the repairs below. In the last several months I have replaced the brake master cylinder and flushed and bleed the entire brake system. I also replaced the right side inner driver with a perfect used one. The engine was leaking oil from around the harmonic balancer crankshaft pulley and since I do not have the proper tools to R and R the pulley in the car, I had a friend who is a Saab mechanic do the work. The seal and O ring were replaced along with a new pulley and new belts installed. The original radio had issues and I replaced it with a Kenwood unit. The power windows, power mirrors and power antenna all work fine. The power door locks work when they want too, I haven't taken the time to trouble shoot them. Cruise control also works fine. The AC does not blow cold air, probably needs a recharge. The automatic transmission shifts fine and the power steering also is fine. Good solid car ready to drive. The original "manhole cover" wheels have been replaced with soccer ball wheels from a 900 EMS. I felt that the shinier soccer-ball wheels looked good on the black car and add a little retro style to the car. I also added the new plastic chrome wheel arch trim which would be for a Saab 99. Again I thought it looked good on the black car. The car has just under 200,000 miles. My daily driver has 300,000 miles on it and I have owned Saabs with as much as 650,000 miles on them. I am sure that after putting over 2,000 miles on this car that it still has lots of miles left in it. The windshield has no cracks but does have a number of rock chips. The car does need front floor mats, passenger side is orginal and worn, drivers side is mismatched. I have been driving Saabs for over 33 years enjoy tinkering with them. This has been a fun project for me and it's time to get back to work on the rest of my fleet. 253 858 1615 8:00am to 11:30pm PDT
