Vehicle Detail

1950 MG TD What I have on auction is my beloved 1950 MGTD #1955 that I’ve owned since 2000. As a child I was always intrigued with these beautiful cars and I had the opportunity to acquire this British sports car 11 years ago. Do to back issues; it has been getting more difficult for me to get in and out of this vehicle especially considering it has the distinctive suicide doors. As I know it, this vehicle is an older restoration by an MG enthusiast in about 1990, which included an engine rebuild which is number matching. I have had the lower gaskets and pan off, as with British cars you tend to replace gaskets, and the underside of the lower engine area looks as clean as if it were just completed. It is arguably the best color combination of the TDs…Autumn Red and Biscuit. After purchasing, I removed the gas tank and had the inside completely stripped and relined and then repainted. I have replaced the master brake cylinder, original comes with car. I’ve installed a modern screw on type oil filter assembly, original canister style comes with the car. I removed the carburetor float needles and replaced them with Grosse jets. Installed a MGB fan for better cooling and the original comes with the car. The dashboard is wood burl and there is a Moto-Lita steering wheel. The canvas top has two small holes, and goes up and down perfectly fine; I think I’ve driven the car once with the top up, just out of curiosity. Side curtains are included. It comes with a tonneau cover and badge bar with associated emblems. The speedometer jumps around as I drive, the odometer just stopped working, but the trip odometer works fine and the tachometer works as does the oil pressure gauge. There are some chips and scratches in the paint, but at a close distance the paint looks good. Over the past 11 years I’ve probably put on approximately 2,500 miles…just an estimate. This is by no means a show car or trailer queen, but a very good weekend driver. I have babied this car for 11 years and now it’s time for it to enjoy new ownership. Please ask any questions and if you are interested, I encourage you to please come and inspect for yourself. You won’t be disappointed. As this vehicle is over 60 years old, it is being sold strictly “AS-IS” with no warranty or guarantees offered or implied. While I do try and describe the car accurately, it still remains a used vehicle with possible issues that are unknown to me. Again, I encourage you to come and thoroughly inspect this vehicle and to bid based upon that judgment. The buyer is responsible for all taxes and shipping costs. I will assist in coordinating shipping or pick up on this end. This is really a tough decision for me, but it needs to be done so this beautiful car can share the enjoyment it has brought me with others. Thank you for looking and happy bidding.
