Vehicle Detail

PLEASE READ ALL BELOW BEFORE BIDDING! Listed is a 1999 Subaru Forester S. NO RESERVE!! We purchased this vehicle on eBay just a few weeks ago, and the true condition of the vehicle was NOT disclosed to us! Therefore, we ended up with an unreliable vehicle needing work done on it. We now are still in need of a sound running vehicle, as this car DOES NEED ENGINE WORK done on it. The issues: Upon picking up the vehicle (in Pennsylvania) and attempting to make our way home southward, within a matter of hours the engine began to run hot. We immediately pulled over and stopped the car and discovered it to be empty of oil. We filled the car with oil and, being directed by a near mechanic, slowly and cautiously made our way 3 miles to a shop where it could be looked at. We were careful not to let the car overheat into the red. However, once at the shop the car was found to have blown head gaskets, which caused the oil to all seep out, and a cracked sleeve. The mechanic even issued a statement saying the car had without a doubt pre-existing engine issues upon sale to us. Nevertheless, we were stuck with a car needing engine work. We are simply unable to put anything extra into it, and have lost enough money due to this mishap as it is. We were told that the car will need those repairs made to run well, and also that it should be inspected by another mechanic to be able to know if anything further may need attention, as anything further would be out of this mechanic’s range of qualifications. This is the full extent of what we know about this car. It’s location is in Virginia. Body and Interior: The body and interior of this car is visually and physically in really nice shape, with exception to three things that we know of: the cup holder behind the center console is loose on its hinges, but will still close; a plastic panel under the passenger seat is loose; and, one of the seat belt buckles in the back seat does not click together fully. These are ALL of the interior issues we noticed that weren’t in great shape. If there are other issues we are unaware. The car has leather interior that looks as though it has been well taken care of, and only shows minor, expected wear. The heated seats do work nicely and get hot. The body of the car likewise is in very nice shape. The car does look great! If we had ended up with a "strong running vehicle" as it was SAID to be, we would not be selling. But as the car needs work, it is better for us to move on to another vehicle than to deal with what was for us a bad experience with this car. We do not want anyone else to have such an experience. All of what we have stated above concerning the vehicle is to our knowledge true and accurate to the best of our ability. There is NO RESERVE, so thank you for reading, and happy bidding! =) Concerning the auction and bidding: 1. PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU HAVE NO BIDDING HISTORY OR FEEDBACK WITHOUT SPEAKING TO US FIRST! 2. The car is available for PICK-UP ONLY, and is not at this time able to be driven away. It will need hauled, or will need engine work prior to being driven. If you have any questions at all about the vehicle, please feel free to contact us through eBay and we will gladly respond as quickly as we're able, and will answer your questions as best we can. Our SOLE INTENT is to treat all bidders honestly and we will do our best to see that you are as fully informed as possible. On Apr-03-11 at 12:19:01 PDT, seller added the following information: Edit: In speaking with a couple other mechanics, we have been informed that "cracked sleeve" is not relevant to the car's issues. While I was unable to remove this from the above details, we felt it important to add that information here. The car does, however, at least need new head gaskets. Any other prospective issues should be inspected by a mechanic of your choice for any concern about other possible repairs needing made to the car which we may be unaware of. Also, the car did have coolant and water even when it over heated, and had not run dry of either. Do feel free to continue to send questions, and we will continue to respond to them as best we are able. Many thanks!
