Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1993 Volkswagen Corrado SLC! It has been my daily driver for over a year and I love this car. I am selling because I bought a New Beetle and do not have a need for 2 cars. I have always owned Volkswagens and have a great VW mechanic that takes car of all my cars. HistoryI purchased this car from a VW mechanic that was using it as his daily driver. He originally planned on making it a show car but ultimately decided to drive it everyday. He drove it to Worthersee in Georgia from Philadelphia 2 summers ago and it ran like a champ. While he owned it he replaced the timing belt on top of the regular maintenance of the car. Since I bought it from him I have used it daily and taken it on many trips to shore and back totaling 200+ miles. I have kept up with regular maintenance since I purchased it. Things that have been maintained over the past year are listed below. -Front brakes-New battery-Fuel lines-Fuel Filter-All new wires and spark plugs-Coolant reservoir and cap. (These are plastic and good to replace considering the age of the car.)-Oil changed every 3000 miles with synthetic oil. Upgrades-Supersport cup kit. This gives it a nice drop that rides well and looks great.-Euro Sports exhaust-BFI .5 Motor mounts-Polished valve cover and intake manifold-Cross drilled brake rotors all around.-Tinted tail lights-Black Avus Wheels-M3 side skirts-Polished Intake and Valve Cover Work neededAs with all Corrado's there are a few quirks that are common. These are the things that I know are not fully functional.-Spoiler does not go up or down. I have never looked into fixing this.-The horn works with the factory alarm but not when pressed down on the steering wheel. -The fog lights do not turn on. I never looked into this.-ABS light has been on since I purchased the car. My mechanic never mentioned that there was a problem here.-AC does not work and has not since I bought it.-There is a crack in the plastic that holds the radio in place and the radio stick out slightly. See picture.-The windshield cracked during the winter and spider webbed in the passenger upper corner. I have seen windshields for as little as $80 used on sites like vwvortex.com.-The rocker panel has been rusted but I have an OEM rocker that I will include in the sale that can replace the rusted area.-With any car of this age there are some nicks in the paint and small dings. There are no major dents or paint defects and it still shines with a wash. OverallThis is a great car for its age and these car are becoming more rare with each year. Finding one that is a daily drivable is even more rare. It cleans up very well and I get many compliments on it. I also drive it very conservatively because I cannot afford a speeding ticket. Many of these have been beaten up but this particular Corrado has been driven responsibly and with care. Please send me any questions you may have regarding the car and I will get back ASAP. I reserve the right to end the auction early if I have a local sale and the car is sold as is without a warranty. I am a private party seller. On Apr-04-11 at 18:30:08 PDT, seller added the following information: **UPDATE- On a test ride today, the Corrado began to leak coolant. I checked to see if it was a hose and did not find one to be leaking. I noticed it around the serpentine belt. This could be a cracked crack pipe or water pump. The car still runs and should not overheat due the cooling fan. I appologize for this but I would like to keep all updates available for potential buyers. If you have bid and are no longer interested send me a message and I will cancel your bid.
