Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This is a 1968 Taco 22 that has been completely restored. I have reluctantly decided to sell a couple motorcycle and mini-bikes and this is your chance to get one of the original Steens rare mini-bikes with the original Briggs and Stratton 3 horsepower engine. The factory catalog description of this bike went like this: Hop aboard STEEN’S Taco 22, a penny-pinching, practical barrel of fun from its low initial cost to miserly miles-per-gallon operation and meager maintenance. The Taco 22 fits a husky 3 h.p. Briggs-Stratton 4 cycle engine in it’s double-loop, cradle frame o heavy-wall, 1-inch tubing. A direct drive through the automatic clutch gives 6.5 pulling ratio to the 11 1/2-inch studded rear tire for 25-30 m.p.h speeds. Stopping power is delivered by a foot-operated friction brake. As previously stated, this completely restored Taco, serial number 8P891, was disassembled all the way to the frame and powder coated Taco purple. The engine was completely gone through and professionally painted. It has brand new rubber footpegs. The bike was running great before disassembly and has not had gas in it since restoration because it was inside my museum and it is a little difficult to remove. All of the engine decals are brand new. It has new polished aluminum Taco clutch cover. It has the original friction rear brake set up that works great. It has a kill button and the old flex hand grips. It has a new kickstand and spring. This exceptional Taco is priced to sell and has a very reasonable reserve price. There was a restored 1969 Taco on Ebay two weeks ago that went up to $1775 and did not hit its reserve price – check it out the listing number was 130495845821. The bike is being sold as is with a bill of sale only. If you would like any more pictures or questions, please do so through Ebay. I have several transport contacts that can transport this minibike anywhere in the US for almost half of what other transporters will charge. I will assist in transporting out of country also. Please see my other Ebay listings of a 1973 Yamaha MX and 1972 Yamaha 175 Enduro as well as some motorcycle parts. On Mar-29-11 at 07:59:24 PDT, seller added the following information: PLEASE NOTE: I have been told by a couple observant E-Bayers that this is not at "true" Taco 22. They say the forks, springs, engine, seat, clutch cover, friction brake, foot pegs, wheels and tires etc. are correct but that the frame should not have the round edges at the front fork and back seat meeting points. I bought both Taco's without knowing much about Taco mini bikes ( I was brought up in Michigan and my first bike was a Lil Indian mini bike) and just like to restore motorcycles and now, mini-bikes. Since I already paid E-Bay for this listing - I will keep this "clone Taco" on E-bay and lower my reserve price. I am very sorry about this anomaly because I am the one that got tricked and I am now informing all perspective buyers on the first day of the listing> I have since changed the listing but E-Bay will not allow me to change the title or any other portion of the listing, since there are already bids - so I can only revise the listing here. Please check my feedback - it's 100% positive and over ninety of my Ebay transactions are with motorcycles.
