Vehicle Detail
1983 VF1100C V65 that has extensive engine work by Dave Dodge / DRP. I’ve owned this bike the last 13 years but no longer have the time to ride it. The bike has been ridden just slightly over 1300 miles since the engine was gone through. The engine work was extensive, and definitely not cheap. This engine is built the way it should have been by Honda. A great opportunity to own an 83’ V65 that has already had the major upgrades done that many of these great old bikes need. This is a partial list of some of the work already done by DRP. · Bore engine crankcases and balance rotating assembly. · All new crank and rod bearings. Micropolish original crank assembly. · New Hondaline pistons and rings. · Maximum porting and polishing for cylinder heads. Very labor intensive and expensive!! · New valves and bronze valve guides with 5 angle valve job and Viton valve seals, competition valve spring set, titanium valve spring retainers . New Interceptor rocker arms. · Stage 2 cams with slotted cam shaft gears allowing the cams to be degreed in. New upgraded cam chain tensioners. · New transmission shift forks and undercut transmission gears. This fixes / prevents the dreaded 2nd gear problems these bikes are known for and many of these bikes have! Shifts like it should with very positive engagement. The cost of this repair / modification is very expensive and labor intensive, that’s if you can find anyone to even do it. · DRP drill and tap oil modification. Fixes the potentially destructive cam oiling issues these bikes were / are notorious for if it isn’t addressed. · Solid motor mounts. · Accel super coils with high performance plug wire set. · Kevlar clutch pack and new clutch spring. No slipping! Pulls like a freight train! · Kerker 4 into 1 header. Other upgrades. · Dynojet kit installed in original 1983 carburetors. K&N lifetime air filter. · 3:40 gear set in final drive. Provides more low end power as well as increased power throughout the entire rpm range allowing more comfortable cruising and incredible acceleration. · Extensive polishing of aluminum parts including the lower forks, valve covers, side rails and many other pieces. · Stainless steel braided brake and clutch hoses. · Carburetors recently cleaned, and both tanks have been stripped and Por15 internally coated due to surface rust. Super clean now, rust gone permanently. · High Performance Coated (HPC) rear down tubes on the exhaust. · Kuryakyn hand grips. · Dunlop D205 speed rated radial tires with 75% tread remaining. · Newer model Honda OEM “round” turn signals on front and back. Look much better than the big, drooping, square factory signals. · Corbin seat. A bit worn, but still comfortable with lots of life left in it. This bike is being sold as is, where is. This bike is nearly 30 years old, and any such bike of this age will have issues. This one is no exception. Some of the chrome bits I had plated are peeling in places, the paint is custom, but isn’t the greatest job. Some of the polished parts had clear coat applied after being polished, and there is a small bit of peeling in some places. The seat latch is busted (has been for years) but it still sits securely and it hasn’t been an issue for me. If you plan to own or build a V65 this would make an exceptional foundation as the hard, time consuming, and expensive work has already been done. Mechanically it is great, and runs incredibly strong. I would not be afraid to get on this bike and ride anywhere as I believe it to be totally reliable. Even if you only wanted this bike for the engine you still could not go wrong, and you’d have tons of spare parts as well. You cannot build an engine to this condition for what this complete bike will sell for. When clean and polished it still looks good to me and if I were to keep it doubt I’d feel the need to do anything else to it other than routine maintenance. Have receipts for much of the work. If shipping is required then buyer is responsible to make arrangements. Tag is current and comes with a clear Oklahoma title. A 500 dollar deposit is required within 24 hours of auction end, with the remainder to be paid within 7 days. Thank you for taking the time to look at my bike.
