Vehicle Detail

1992 Talon TSI AWD with ~70,000 original miles. It is completely stock and unmolested by grubby little hackers. "Barn find" that sat for about 10 years. Engine is 6bolt w/ 14band is completely stock & original. In my posession it received the love and attention it had been lacking from the original owner. It was due for a complete timing belt service, all belts and tensioners (including balance shaft parts) on the engine side were replaced, including the water pump, thermostat and all associated hoses. Fuel tank and sending unit replaced with good used parts due to old gas. ECU had bad caps, swapped ecu to a working one. (This was the likely original cause of the car sitting for a decade). .Clutch master cyl and slave cyl. has been replaced. OEM stock clutch works fine, the trans goes into all gears. Clutch releases nicely. All fluids have been flushed and replaced with synthetics. Brakes were completely overhauled...calipers, rotors, pads. The front brakes are updated twin piston calipers from a newer model, with Hawk performance pads. Body wise the car is in very good condition. Nice oem silver paint. You may find a slight scratch here and there, however the car is amazingly straight. The hood and drivers front fender had rust spots, the leading edge of the hood was repaired and touched up (see pics) and the fender was replaced....still have original fender that is salvageable, however it was simply easier for me to just replace the fender as I found one the same color here on ebay. See pics for hood repair...I'm not a body man so the repair isnt pretty, however the rust was completely removed, primed, and touched up to avoid further issues. To be perfect, this car should get the hood re-sprayed professionally, or maybe even a carbon hood would look good on this car. The replacement fender is a pretty good match, but might be a little off as its a little more faded than the rest of the car. Undercarriage is rot free.....you'll see some surface rust on the control arms and suspension however nothing out of the ordinary.....floors and pinch welds are all in great shape. With that said, overall the body of the car is in great condition. Looks very nice and presentable, even with the touched up hood. All panels are amazingly straight, and the original paint has held up surprisingly well for a 20 year old car. Interior is complete and in excellent shape. Grey/black/rainbow cloth seats. Headliner was also repaired and re-dyed, looks good. All plastic is good, nice carpet, nothing missing. The trunk is perfect with all the original cardboard/carpet. This seems to have been a low optioned car as well, NO ABS, NO Sunroof, NO Leather.....even has stock tape deck and EQ. It does have the preferred 6-bolt engine and 4-bolt rear stock. There is one other bit on this car that I changed, and that would be the new style shift knob....it is OEM but for a newer car. Original stock phallus shift knob will also be included, if that's your preference. car is rolling on fairly new snow tires right now as well, I would suggest replacing the tires for the summer, or maybe get a spare set of wheels. You can drive on these snow tires for a bit but they will wear quickly if driven thru the summer, they also make a bit of noise. These are very agressive mud / snow tires, and work phenomenally well. This car was absolutely unstoppable in the snow this winter. This car has a clean carfax history with no evidence of accident damage, clear 2-owner title. Runs and drives excellent, has been my daily driver throughout the winter and has been completely reliable. All service is up to date, just get in and drive. Good NJ inspection, passed emissions with flying colors. Let me reiterate....other than the shift knob and brake upgrade, this car is COMPLETELY STOCK with no modifications whatsoever....all emissions items are in place, no boost controllers, nothing. Every bolt and vaccum line is in place as it came from the factory. Drivetrain is flawless, no leaks or funny noises....surprisingly strong for such a stock car. It will be due for an oil change in a couple miles, I will have that done before the new owner picks it up. SEE PICS, what you see is what you get....if you want to see any more pics of anything in partuicular, just let me know. The car can be viewed anytime during the week after 6pm, and pretty flexible on the weekends. A couple people asked about the condition of the a/c, and to be honest a/c was the last thing on my mind considering the winter we had.....so since today was such a nice day I checked it out. At first it was a bit unimpressive however after a charge its blowing nice and cold. It has been converted from r12 to 134a, so its not as cold as it would be with R12 but its good enough to get you to work without swamp butt. I used a charge that has dye, and there are no leaks in the system. The a/c compressor does have a slight "hum" to it when running the a/c, however I had it running for hours today and it held pressure and performed just fine. I also came across an almost new a/c condenser in my attic....I think its been up there for over 12 years and looks nearly new! I will include it with the car, in case the winning bidder needs it down the road. I removed it from one of my previous projects like a dummy to "save weight" however now I much prefer driving around in a car with working a/c. The car received an oil change today and is ready to go anywhere!
