Vehicle Detail

1968 DODGE CHARGER R/T SUMMARY: You are bidding on a 1968 Dodge Charger R/T, with a period (i.e. non-numbers matching) 440 cu in V-8 big block. This car has been NYS inspected continuously for the past eleven years, the car is very drive-able, but unfortunately it doesn't get driven a whole lot these days. This car is pretty much rust free. My mechanic, who worked on the car from time, was a MOPAR aficionado, to say the least. Having built many MOPARS during his lifetime, he used to take great pleasure working on my Dodge. The one thing that most impressed him about this car was the pristine condition of the underside, from frame-rails to floor-pans, he used to tell me that was worth the price of admission. This vehicle has always been stored in an attached garage, taken out only in the summertime, usually for shows, and has seen rain once since I've owned it. DRIVE TRAIN: The original 440 V-8 is long gone, having been blown sometime between 1969 and 1970. But I have to hand it to the previous owner who found a 1970 HP2 motor built October 17, 1969. The motor runs strong, I'm not sure what modifications were done to it; my mechanic seemed to think that it might have a six-pack cam in it, because of the way it lopes slightly. Even though it's a '70 motor, I've made it look like a '68, from the valve covers, to the carburetor. The trans is a 727 automatic, with a shift kit. The rear end is an 8-3/4 with 3:23 gears. All 4 wheels have power drum brakes (3" wide in the front). The chrome wheels are 14"x7" Magnum 500, with new Dunlop tires. The vehicle also has power steering. BODY: This Charger left the factory painted W-1 White with a black hardtop, red interior, and red bumblebee stripe. The car was repainted by the previous owner. To be honest, the job was just okay, as there are evidence of paint bubbles on the lower front corners of both doors (the bottoms of the doors are clean). The engine compartment is in excellent shape, no rust on the shock towers, or anywhere else. The fenders are in good condition as are the rear 1/4 panels. The interior floors are excellent, maybe you'll find a little surface rust here and there. The trunk pan is very solid on the sides, but there is a fiberglass patch in the center. A previous owner also decided to put a thin coat of bondo in the trunk drip rail, which is somewhat annoying. The hood and trunk lid are in good condition. As stated earlier, the front and rear frame rails are excellent, as are the bumpers, glass, and most of the stainless trim. INTERIOR: The interior is red, with a red headliner and dash. The front bucket seats are in great condition as is the rear bench. The dash cluster is in excellent shape, having been re-chromed by the previous owner. The speedometer, odometer, alternator, and fuel gauges are operational, however, the temperature and oil pressure gauges have been disconnected (not sure why) and have been replaced with an under-dash mounted chrome dual gauge unit that works fine. The tic-toc-tac stopped working a while ago and I've mounted a tach under the dash (over the console) as a temporary fix. Door panels are very good, upper dash is excellent. The console is in good condition and the carpet excellent. Vacuum headlight doors work excellent. WHAT'S NEW: - Battery - Alternator (two field, replacing the one field unit) - Fan and clutch (bringing setup back to stock) - Radiator re-cored - Heater box - Carburetor - Valve covers (Stock '68 to replace the '70 pair) - Mopar electronic ignition - Master brake cylinder - Brakes (all four wheels rebuilt) - Tires (Dunlop GT Qualifiers 225 70R14's all around) - Fuel tank - Fuel level sensor - Spare tire and steel wheel - Rebuilt starter NEEDS: This car does not need immediately, for example, the next thing on my to-do list was going to be a new dual exhaust setup. Maybe a tune-up, a good cleanup (it's dusty) and a lot of tlc. I am selling this car because I know longer have the time to tinker with it or drive it (which is why I purchased it) as my kids are at the age where they are part of different sports/travel/tournament teams. My weekends are filled with watching my kids play their respective games. I enjoy this but do not enjoy the Charger sitting in my garage day after day. Whomever wins the bidding will be very happy. NOTE: This car is sold "AS-IS". There are no warranties or refunds for any reason. All sales are final. Shipping is the buyers responsibility. The winning bidder must send a $1,000 deposit through Paypal or wire transfer within 24 hours of auctions end to secure their purchase. The balance is due within 7 calendar days of auctions end. I will accept CASH IN PERSON or BANK WIRE TRANSFER for the balance (No checks). The car may stay here for up to 30 days free while shipping arrangements are made, but MUST BE PAID FOR IN FULL WITHIN 7 DAYS. Neither the car, nor the title will leave until all funds have cleared. I have listed this car for sale on other venues, therefore I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. By bidding on any of my items, you are agreeing to these terms. Call me if you have any questions at: (631)-513-5044. Thanks and good luck, Bob
