Vehicle Detail
Original 1971 Super Sport Chevelle –LS3 A true survivor, this car is original and unmolested. Other than paint and wear items, this car has been preserved since new. It’s the real thing. Matching numbers with two factory build sheets (one from the seat + one from the top of the gas tank) showing VIN and all options that make this a real SS. It is not a “clone” or “tribute” car. It runs, drives, stops and handles like it did new. Very clean in and out. Nice Tuxedo Black paint with white stripes over perfect all original sheet metal. Never any rust or bondo anywhere. If you are looking for a fun car to drive, enjoy and hold value, this is it. Factory Installed Features: · Original 402 CID/300 Hp engine matted to a three speed Turbo Hydramatic · Power Steering and Power Front Disc Brakes · Bucket seats with console · Correct AM/FM Stereo · Factory Air · Excellent chrome everywhere · No rips, tears, split seams on any of the soft trim I purchased this car 12 years ago and have put less than 300 careful miles per year on the odometer. The title is in my name and is clear. It has been garage keep all of it’s’ life and it shows. Built in Leeds, Missouri it spent most of its early life in a warm climate. The last owner was a close friend, a GM service manager who refreshed it with many NOS and new GM parts. His goal was to make it a trouble free driver for his wife. She rarely took it out of the garage. When I first purchased it I dropped the gas tank, cleaned it out, rebuilt the carburetor and installed new rear springs. It has needed nothing but oil changes since. I get in, pump the gas a few times and it fires right up with no fuss. A shift kit was installed when the transmission was inspected 12 years ago so it shifts very crisply. The a/c works but just doesn’t blow that cold. Could need a charge. It is my understanding that the car was painted over the factory Pacer Gold before it was delivered new. It appears the prospective new owner had cash in hand but the wanted the Tuxedo Black paint scheme, so the dealer accommodated him. It remained that color for it’s last re-spray. The paint shows well all around but the quarters have some crazing in the clear coat. Every panel was re-sprayed in the 1990’s except the quarters. The car has never been hit or had any rust damage, the last owner just liked to do things in this way. The factory installed roof covering was replaced with the correct three piece pebble pattern vinyl. The quarter window moldings where custom fabricated as they were unavailable at the time. They are being reproduced now. Everyone knows that that 402 is a production modified 396. The fenders left the factory with only “SS” badges but my friend installed NOS “396” badges. I guess he wanted everyone to know it wasn’t a small block. I installed the air cleaner decal to match since “402” decals look horrible. Please call Tom at 732-380-8246 for questions or if you would like see it in person. I can send more photos if you provide your email address. Pick up only. It cannot be delivered. A 10% deposit will be due within 2 days of the auction closing date. If you pay cash in person I will hand you the signed title. ANY TYPE OF CHECK MUST CLEAR BEFORE I WILL PROVIDE THE TITLE OR ALLOW PICKUP. THEY TAKE 7 TO 10 BUSINESS DAYS. PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND. Please don't bid if you: 1. Don't plan to win & don’t have the funds to back your bid up. 2. Have no history or any negative feedback. 3. Don’t understand that the reserve will not be revealed. I will cancel your bid if you chose not to follow these simple rules. This car is offered to prospective buyers in the Continental United States only! I will not sell to Canada or Mexico as the financial arrangements and paperwork are a nightmare. This car is sold "As Is -Where Is" without any warranty. Here is my promise - if you are the winner of the auction and you come here in person and feel the car was misrepresented, you do not have to buy it and I will refund any deposit you paid. That should give anyone a good degree of comfort. If you buy the car sight unseen and have it shipped, I cannot offer this option. If you buy the car sight unseen, it is your car. I believe this is a more reasonable approach than most Ebay sellers will offer. Please take a look at my 300 positive feedbacks with not one negative in 10 years of using Ebay. Enough about me, now let's talk about you. If you do not have more than 10 feedbacks AND at least a 98% positive feedback rating, you must call me before bidding or I reserve the right to cancel your bid. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time Thanks for lookingOn Mar-17-11 at 08:16:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks to all those who are bidding, let's keep it up! Keep in mind that this is an ORIGINAL SUPER SPORT with documentation to back it up, not a "converted" Malibu. Just think about that when you go to shows! If you don't believe the two original paper build sheets check out the remote drivers' mirror, boxed rear trailing arms and the other stuff that only production Super Sports had! Wow, what a car! Everytime I take it out crowds surround it and fall in love. I've loved this car and now it's time to pass along this bit of Chevrolet history to the next lucky person. I'd keep it forever and pass it down to my sons, but money is tight these days and now is your opportunity! Thanks TomOn Mar-18-11 at 09:17:10 PDT, seller added the following information: The bidding continues to get hot! If you get a chance see what these cars are bringing at Barrett Jackson. Last year a convertible with a stick went for over $100,000! You can have a taste of the same for a boatload less and it's as clean as it gets. Geez, remember when factory air and AM/FM stereo was something few ordered? This car has these creature comforts along with factory front disc brakes. I used to love to pull up at cruise nites in the summer with the windows up and the cool air flowing-- man were the other guys jealous! Hotest days of the year with the A/C on tooling around in this car is was worry free for me. It never overheated or gave me any trouble. Good Luck!!! TomOn Mar-19-11 at 07:38:20 PDT, seller added the following information: I sure am getting alot of calls. This auction is getting more attention than Charlie Sheen! This Chevelle is a triple black dream!!! Fact of Pete is that this is a real clean, straight piece of American heritage with laser straight original factory sheet metal, smooth running power train and crisp interior. I'd wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. I just did a cooling system flush in the fall and the oil looks like honey! I always use Quaker State with an AC Delco filter. Did I mention that the engine purrs? She rides out with little effort, no funny noises or bad behavior. If you're looking for a project that's going to bury you in debt and agony this is not the car for you. If you want to enjoy a super nice ride with no fuss or muss bid now!! Thanks!!! Tom
