Vehicle Detail

1964 Triumph TR4. This is a good basis for a resto project - it's 99% complete, and was running well last year. It's had a lot of work done already, and needs painting and reassembly. It was originally a California car, and came to Oregon sometime in the 1990s. It was stored from 1994 to 2008, when it came into my possession. During 2008-09, the car was given a good mechanical going-over, and was on the road in 2009. A change in personal circumstances meant it got partially dismantled to sort the bodywork out, but the work didn't progress far and it's now taking up space again. I'd hate to see it go, but I'll never get time to properly finish it and drive it. Mechanical work it had done: All new hosesNew dynamoNew clutch (plate, disc, bearings)Rebuilt, pressure-tested radiatorEngine compression-tested. Rocker gaskets changed, no other work neededNew plugs, wires, dizzy capCarb rebuild (new needles, floats, balanced, etc) Bodywork: New driver's side floorpan installedNew British Motor Heritiage passenger's side floorpan included but not installedNew British Motor Heritage o/s sills included but not installedOriginal, balanced/straightened wheels w/brand new BF Goodrich T/A tiresBoth front fenders removed, blasted, and prepped for paintDriver's door removed, blasted, fixed, and prepped for paint (passenger's door was good) New front valance panelNew Moss Motors body chrome trim kitNew transmission tunnel cover Missing: Exhaust (front section was rusted out, rear sections and mufflers are present)Rear fendersEverything else is there, most of the smaller parts are bagged up and either labelled or crated (or both!). It ran just fine when it was on the road. The transmission shifted smoothly, and after adjustment (and bleeding properly!) the new clutch bedded in good. It had a brake system flush at the same time. All the electrics were good, and the car drove dead straight with no shakes or rattles up to freeway speeds. Interior-wise, it's a mixed bag - the seats need re-upholstering but are OK, the door panels and cards are original and serviceable, but could do with re-covering. The carpets are gone. The dash is original - all the gauges are perfect and in good working order, but the metal dash panel needs stripping and re-painting (it's white, rather than the later wood dashes). I've no idea if the mileage is genuine (it's a 46 year old car!), but the lack of engine wear suggests it may well be. Bodywork-wise, it needs the offside shell replacing (parts included), and the battery tray needs replacing. Aside from that, it's rust-free. I have several "before and after" pictures showing the condition pre-disassembly and now. It's currently a rolling shell, so it and all the boxes of parts will need trailering away. The engine and trans are still assembled with all the ancilliaries installed - but it's currently out of the car. The pictures of the car complete show it "before" any work was done. The later pictures show its current state. The roll bar and luggage rack shown in the pictures were largely junk and have been removed. Please feel free to ask any and all questions. The car has a clear OR title. The car is located just outside Portland, OR and is securely dry stored. I can assist with loading, but somewhat obviously it can't be driven as it is (people do ask!). The car is also listed for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the listing early if sold elsewhere. Lastly, thanks for reading!
