Vehicle Detail
Hi. You are looking at my project truck. I have had her for exactly two years, and have dumped quite a bit of money and labor into it. It was originally a V6/4 speed truck, but the owner swapped that for a 350/TH350. I ended up installing a completely rebuilt 454 last summer, and it has around 3,000 miles on it. I do have receipts, and the machine work/short block build was done by one of the best. It is a mild build, putting out around 450 hp/500 lb-ft. Trans is a TH350, with a few upgrades. I didn't do much here, since I had planned on going back to a manual or building a 700R4, but it does not slip and shifts perfectly. Rear end is a 8.5" 10 bolt with a Powertrax No-Slip locker. It has a 4/5 static drop and tires have less than 2,000 miles on them. She also has a complete set of Autometer Phantom gauges and Infinity/JL Audio sound system, with a Pioneer Premier CD/Ipod deck. Body is 99% rust-free and has few dents and dings. All this really needs is a paint job to be finished. Title says 130,000 miles, and odometer says 8,000. It read a little over 5k when I dropped the motor in. Here are some more details about the motor and truck. •2 bolt main block-can't remember the numbers, but it is a std. height block from the 70's-80's, bored .030 •hypereutectic flat tops with factory rods and .010/.010 cast crank •063 casting semi-closed chamber 101cc oval port heads-hardened exhaust seats and new seals-completely gone through-around 9.4:1 compression •Comp Cams XE268 cam, GM chrome timing cover, new lifters, stock rods and rockers •Edelbrock 2-0 intake, new Wiend hi-flow aluminum water pump, new Summit 100 amp GM 12si alternator, new AC Delco power steering pump, new Edelbrock mech. fuel pump, new Edelbrock valve covers, new Taylor ThunderVolt 8.2mm wires with MSD boots and DEI boot covers, rebuilt GM HEI distributor and AC Delco platinum plugs, new AC Delco PMGR mini starter, new SFI approved flex plate, new Moroso kick out chrome oil pan and Melling HV pump, new Duralast Gold battery, and of course it has new bearings, gaskets, and seals •Edelbrock 1411 electric choke carb, completely rebuilt (closer to 1407 specs) and tuned via wideband O2 sensor, with a phenolic spacer and 4" filter •Flow Tech long tube headers, 2 1/2" pipes with Flowmaster 50's, and 4" stainless tips exiting before rear wheels (good sound-not too loud) •Energy Suspension poly engine and trans mounts •TH350C with stock converter, B&M deep pan, new modulator, and TCI shift kit, Powertrax No-Slip locker and 3.08 gears (2400 rpm @60mph) •Engine was completely tore down, tanked, cleaned, rebuilt, painted, and broke in properly. It has only seen Mobil 1 synthetic oil and K&N oil filters, since break-in. The only problem that I have had with the motor is from the Fel-pro one piece oil pan gasket. I am on my second one, since the first one blew out at the front, which seems to be somewhat common. Oil pressure runs 25 at a warm idle and around 70 at a cold idle or higher RPM's. Engine makes good power and is very streetable. I never had it dyno'ed, but Corvettefever.com got 483 hp and 541 lb-ft with this cam and a GMPP HO454 crate motor, so I figure around 450 hp and 500 lb-ft. Due to the transmission not being built, I haven't really got on it too much, but I can say it is traction limited at low speeds. •New window and door seals, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, power driver's seat, and keyless entry-Doors are off of a 1991 Suburban •Leather/suede seats out of a Sebring Convert. with matching suede headliner and door inserts •Custom center console with ratchet shifter and rear-firing 10" sub •New dash pad-not a cover, 8 new Autometer gauges, and a lot of new interior parts, including carpet, sound deadening, switches, vents, etc. •Late model GM truck rear view mirror with compass/temp and overhead console •Infinity 6010cs 6.5" components up front, 5010cs 5.25" components in the back, and a 1030w 10" sub in the console, all driven by a JL Audio A6450 6 channel amp and a Pioneer Premier DEH-780MP deck with Ipod hookup in glove box-Stinger 1/0 cable and Monster RCA's •New DJM 3" drop spindles, 1/2 coil cut off of stock springs, new DJM flip kit (5" drop), 4 new Gabriel shocks, 1.25" front sway bar with poly bushings, new billet grill with 70's Impala 454 emblem (not installed), every exterior light has been replaced, rear sport bumper, 81-82 front bumper, one key does it all (ignition, doors, glovebox), all trim holes filled with a MIG, not bondo, Titan wheel well tool box with two keys Both tanks get used and neither leak. Mechanically, this truck is great. It stops, goes, and drives like it should. Electrically, everything works. The only bad things that I could possibly say about her are: there is a slight vibration that appears at certain speeds, which I have concluded is from a tire out of balance, the steering belt squeals at full lock, the driver's exhaust pipe rattles against the trans crossmember every now and then, due to flexing of the frame, the window motors are getting pretty slow, and the lack of a decent paint job. The only rust you will find is on the inner rockers and a little on the tailgate. I have a Sir Michael's handle relocation kit, and had planned on installing that and using a K5 insert (which I have), or cutting out the rust and welding in a piece of sheet metal, to give it a smooth look. The paint is rattle can semi-flat black. I have most of the parts to get the A/C going again, minus the compressor, and I have a ton of extra parts. This is not a Barret-Jackson worthy truck, but it isn't a POS either. With some light body work and nice paint, it would be a decent show truck. I just bought my wife a new car, so I got her old one. I don't want to insure it anymore, let alone drive it to work (it doesn't get the best gas mileage), so I am now at a crossroads-continue with this build, completely disassembling it and spending money on things like a paint job, cowl hood, etc., or just sell it. I figured $5,500 is a fair amount to ask, and have set the reserve slightly lower than that. I have a lot more than that in it, so I will probably just keep it if it doesn't sell. The title is clear and in hand. Truck is located in Warsaw, IN, which is about 3 hours away from Chicago and Indy. Well, I hope you enjoyed reading my novel, and I would like to thank you for doing so and wish you good luck.
