Vehicle Detail

1963 VW Beetle Chop Top Bug Talk about a radical chop top Beetle. I am pleased to present this 1963 VW Bug chop top. Dark metallic blue exterior with custom weathered "bomber jacket" leather interior - this is one crazy ride. VIN # is 5098462 and mileage shows 2222. Mileage cannot be confirmed but conceivably can be the miles driven since the car was built in the early 1970's. This car is unique because of the time and expense that went into the chop top itself. The top was cut into 16 pieces for perfect symmetry - builder estimates approximately $6300 to duplicate chop top today. The car features: - T-Hoff transaxle - Hurst short throw shifter - Competition clutch - Piston and jugs were replaced with w/88 mm bringing the displacement up to 1641CC - Motor was balanced and blueprinted - Lightened flywheel - Wolverine cam - Dual Weber carbs - 2 piece spun aluminum Cal custom drag wheels - Lowered - Stinger exhaust - Blackhawk helicopter seatbealts - Pioneer cassette player with EQ (how retro) - Built by Automotive Performance of Fayetteville, NC. A Brief History of This Car Built in the early 1970's by Steve Jenner of Fayetteville, NC as a weekend drag car. This car burned up the track on the weekends and then was used as a daily driver during the week. The current owner purchased the car in 1975 for his wife. It has been a garage queen ever since but well cared for. Slideshow Click here to view a slideshow of photos in a new window. 1963 VW Beetle Chop Top Click on a thumbnail to enlarge the photo. Chop Top Done Right Custom "Bomber Jacket" Leather Interior Engine Shots Front Storage Area In Summary - One crazy but well built chop top Bug - Fast, fun and unique - You couldn't possibly build this car today for the asking price Vehicle Condition - - I have not personally inspected or photographed this vehicle. I am relying on the pictures and descriptions provided by the seller. This is not a show car, it is a daily driver. The owner noted some paint flaws but nothing major. This would be a unique VW for Bug meets but would need a re-paint to be a real show car. A great value and great fun. I invite and encourage any interested party to inspect this car in the Fayetteville, NC. area and determine for yourself that this car is a wild ride. Seeing is really believing. **If you are considering this car and worried that it will be swiped up by another admiring Ebayer, use the Buy it Now so that you can sleep comfortably at night knowing that the car is yours. Please note that if you hit the Buy it Now by mistake (as has happened in the past), you will be charged a $75 re-listing fee. Bid carefully.
