Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This is a restored stock 1972 Opel Gt. I believe I am the 4th owner of the car. I bought the car from Utah where it had 3 owners. Mileage might be actually 34k (speedometer goes to 100k) At some point there was damage to front fender. The car sat Idle for up to 20 years in a garage. When I bought the car it was already repaired. I did not like the quality of work and had the car stripped, re-welded and painted. From there I fixed everything mechanical, and then cosmetically. The car never had any rust. Lots of work has been done with receipts totaling more than $12,000. Car is completely original. . This car has been garaged and used once a week on average. I have been taking it to local car shows in San Diego and its always a favorite. Here is a list of all the repairs made in the last 2-3 years.: Chrome is perfect all the way around, including on window trim. It has new rims and tires on the car, Toyo 195 45 15 VR, (16x8) Original rims with 13x5 tires are included with the car. I just wanted better driving performance. These Toyo tires have less than 2000 miles on them. Car can turn a corner 40 mph with out losing grip on the road. Amazing performance. seats reupholstered, new headliner, dash cracks repaired, Steering wheel restored, New cd player mounted under dash with remote and two 6x9's and 10 inch bass with amps. The speakers are attached with velcro and remove to show car as stock for car shows etc. new Webber carb, new upper ball joint, new front shocks, new brake pads and rotors, new clutch, new axle o ring, gaskets, new battery, new shifter boot, new head gasket set, new rear transmission seals, new rear and front engine seals, new back up light switch, resurfaced cylinder head, transmission service, new radiator core, Headlight electrical harness, new wires and spark plugs, distributor cap/ Rotor, new fuel pump. Many little cosmetic parts have been replaced. The only things that don't currently work is original ac Delco stereo and clock in dash. There is some pitting in the windshield, but it doesnt affect sight. Think body shop left Windshield next to sand blasting while it was off car. Reserve is set low to encourage bids. Buy it now price is set at insured amount, for those that know this is the best Opel Gt and they don't want to risk losing it. I have over $22k in this beauty and am only selling it to expand my business. Car is currently being sold locally on consignment and auction can be canceled at anytime due to local sale. Car has been inspected by consignment dealer which is also a repair shop in San Diego for over 30 years. Car can be a daily driver and can be driven across country. I drove the car from Utah to San Diego when I purchased it and that was before repairs! I will help with shipping if you don't make things too complicated. I am willing to hold car for any amount of time as long as it is paid in full. Obviously I recommend you see the car in person. I can help with any travel plans or details. Last but not least, Liens will be filed against winner if car isn't paid for within 2 weeks of auction ending. Can call from 8am-9pm pacific time zone with any other questions, restricted numbers will not be answered! 619-306-9225 On Feb-27-11 at 13:11:34 PST, seller added the following information: Additional Info: Hinge on rear windows is cracked and I will have it repaired before delivery. Also, rear side marker light is out and I will have bulb replaced as well. On Feb-27-11 at 18:05:36 PST, seller added the following information: RESERVE IS OFF! GOOD LUCK BIDDING On Mar-02-11 at 08:17:46 PST, seller added the following information: Not hooked up is the windshield washer hoses. They are present. Don't know if pump is good or how it even works. The Wiper pedal under the clutch does work. First time I drove this car I couldn't figure why the wipers kept going on. Its a neat feature and keeps your hands on the wheel. The lights work and flip but the lever takes a quick thrust to flip it. If you find it difficult you can leave them in the open position. Personally I like the Ferrari look when its open over the Corvette look when its closed. With some practice it becomes easy to move. Plastic chrome rectangle around inside door lever has a crack in it. It is only cosmetic and door works fine. I have a used replacement that I never installed and I will include it. I also have a decent breathable car cover. I only use 91 octane gas. Do as you wish, I just treat my women right. Belt squeals if you go faster than 85-90 mph. If I spray it with belt conditioner it sometimes goes away. There is no affect on driving performance. With or without the squeal I have gotten the car up to 130 mph. Eventually the belt will need to go but probably has another 10k miles in it if you aren't running her at 90 mph all the time. My favorite time to take her out was around 3am. She purrs at night. Exhaust sounds nice but not loud. All though there is a great stereo, I only installed it for long trips. I think the exhaust is music to my ears. It is original and this year I replaced the rubber donuts and had some tack welds done to tighten it all up. There are no rattles or noises from anywhere. Compression and everything is great. Anything you would do to car would be cosmetic. With the newer wheels there is a lot of space in wheel well. Could lower car for looks or get bigger tires. I'll include both sets of wheels and rims, but not sure if 4 can all fit in car. I you are doing transport you might have to spend another $75 or so to ship one or two tires. Can ask Don Keating Auto in La Mesa, CA if you have any mechanical questions about the car. They have it on site and have done some work on the car.838 ttt1 La Mesa Blvd La Mesa CA 91941 Tel: 619-300-5072 Tel: 619-698-1490On Mar-03-11 at 20:49:53 PST, seller added the following information:
