Up for auction, with NO RESERVE, is a 2002 Ford Escort. It is equipped with a 2.0 liter SOHC 4 cyllinder engine and automatic transmission. The car has ice cold A/C and power steering. The body of the car is in excellent condition with absolutely no rust anywhere. The interior is in just as good of shape. The seats are in great shape with no rips or tears anywhere. There are seat covers on the front seats and floor mats front and rear, but they are for protection only. The car has 104,972 original miles and was driven by a young girl back and forth to college courses 20 miles, 5 days a week, for the last 3 years. This car started its life as a lease vehicle for an employee at a company in Florida. She purchased the car at 76,638 miles and has driven it to its current mileage. The car has been meticulously maintained and oil changes have been performed every 3000 miles like clockwork. New tires all the way around were installed at 98,000 miles and still have at least 80% tread remaining. The only problem the car ever previously had was the alternator went bad and was replaced with a new one with a lifetime warranty about a year ago. At 104,435 miles the car developed a miss and ticking noise on the top end and was taken to the local Ford dealership service department for diagnostics. They stated that there was nothing wrong with the car and sent her on her way. On her way to school one morning, she was pulling into a parking spot and the car made a loud rattle and died and wouldn't restart. After researching the problems with these cars online, we learned that the 2.0 SOHC engines were really bad about dropping valve seats in the cylinder heads, so we removed the head and, as we expected it had dropped a valve seat on the number 4 cylinder. We proceded by ordering a new cylinder head with improved valve seat design to keep it from happening again. The new head is equipped with new cam, lifters and rocker arms as well. Unfortunately after the car was reassembled and fired up it has a knocking sound coming from somewhere that the car never had before the head swap. The car still starts up and runs, but it will need repaired before it can be driven any distance. The car still has good oil pressure and no check engine light is on. We have been told it can be anything from a bad spark plug, fuel injector, bad bearing etc... but she no longer has the funds to do any further repairs to the car and has decided to sell it and move on. Someone with a little mechanical ability should be able to have this car running great in no time, and have a nice vehicle that gets really good gas mileage. This car has a clean/clear Arkansas title in my possession and is ready for transfer. This is a used vehicle and is therefor sold as-is with no warranty. No bidders with less than 10+ feedback without contacting me first or I will cancel your bid and block you from the auction. A $500 deposit is due by PayPal immediately after auction end with the balance due by either cash or cashiers check within 7 days of auction end. If a cashiers check is used to pay the balance, It will take 5 business days to clear my bank before I will release the car or title so don't plan on bringing a cashiers check and taking the car on the same day.
