When Chevrolet decided to build a muscle pickup, they followed a familiar formula: put the biggest engine available into the lightest chassis they could. Hence the 454 big block coupled to an overdrive transmission, a bulletproof hi-po rig. The 1500 series shortbed standard cab was lowered a bit, fitted with cool wheels, fatter tires and given a special paint job. For the first several years of production all the 454SS's were black with a red interior, but in late production GM added a red and white version, the white having a gray interior. White was very rare, even knowledgable sport truck enthusiasts have never seen one. Summit white, gray custom cloth. Last year produced-843 units total, only 164 white. All standard 454ss equipment with 255hp/454 engine, 4 speed 4l80e overdrive transmission, 4.10 locking differential. Non stock headers, exhaust, stereo, steering wheel and alarm. Original drivetrain. Needs restoration, body, paint and windshield due to wind damage from tree branches. Passenger cab corner rust. Mint bed. 15-20K restored value-this is an easy cosmetic restoration. Engine runs strong and fires INSTANTLY.
