Vehicle Detail
Here is a beautiful and original British classic bike for you! Excellent condition! You are looking at a rare example of a 1978 Triumph Bonneville 750 in unmolested original state! It truly is in excellent condition with only 7,371 original miles on it. From what we understand only the mufflers have been replaced with better flowing versions that work great and sound very good but not excessively loud. It also has gas shocks, which I believe were a Triumph accessory. The bike handles great with those! An optional luggage rack has been installed by the dealership when the bike was new. The information we have from the previous owner is that he was only the second owner. It was owned by a Triumph dealership for most of its life. We build custom bikes (H-D Pan, Shovel, etc. and Triumph) and we originally bought it to build a bobber from it but this bike is in original state and in such great condition that we thought it will be better to preserve it as it is. So we’re putting it up for auction for someone who appreciates this classic Triumph. This is NOT one of those barn finds that have been forgotten and neglected (and as a result need a ground-up restoration). This bike has been maintained and pampered all of its life and it really does show. It needs nothing and is ready to go. If you like classic British bikes and you’re in the market for an unmolested example – this is your bike! The WA state title is clear and the bike is registered as a collector’s vehicle. It looks almost like a new bike. Seat, paint and chrome etc. are in excellent shape except for some minor flaws. The bike shows unusually little wear from usage given that it is 33 years old! At some point the tank had been replaced with a new original part in the original colors so everything is the way it should be. Keeping in mind that this Bonneville 750 is not a new bike my personal rating for this bike would be a 10 for its technical condition: · Everything works perfectly and it starts easily on first kick. · Tires are in decent shape. · Brakes work well and so does the suspension. · Engine runs like new, it is clean and there are no apparent leaks. Cosmetically I give it a 9 because of a few small flaws: · top chrome fork cover needs re-chroming · some scratches and slight blemishes on those beautiful trumpet mufflers · some scratches on the speedometer mount · paint came off on some areas of the front brake cylinder All of those flaws are minor and can be fixed easily but we want to disclose everything we know upfront to avoid any disappointments. I have been an eBay member since 2000 with a perfect 100% rating over all those years. I intend to keep it that way so please bid with confidence. Technical information: This is a late 1978 Bonneville T140E with parallel intake ports and MkII carbs. Its Black over Crimson finish is one of the 3 original finishes available in the US for the model year 1978. It was voted motorcycle of the year 1979 by Motorcycle News. We cannot edit the specifications of this listing but most haven't changed anyways. One of the nice changes for the model year is that the motor is rated at 54HP as opposed to 49HP according to the specifications we found online. Happy bidding!
