Up for auction is a 1988 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham D'Elegance with velour interior, not leather. The car has 99, 647 original miles on it, original motor and transmission. I bought it from the second owner who had it for 15 years and only put 30,000 miles on it! I did quite a bit of work to it when I bought it when it had 85,000 miles. These repairs include a new fuel tank and cap, rear brake lines, rear brake drums, shoes and hardware as well as front brake pads and a new muffler. The car has the level ride air shocks which still work well and pump will come on when weight is in the trunk. I had the carburetor rebuilt along with a new throttle posistion sensor. All new vaccuum lines, spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. New belts, valve cover gaskets, a new intake manifold gasket because it was leaking, new heavy duty radiator, water pump, thermostat and all new hoses including heater hoses and a new fuel pump. I also added an external transmission cooler which works in conjunction with the stock radiator cooler. The AC has been converted to R134a and blew cold all last summer. Tires are very good but the front two are different than the back two and do not have a whitewall. All power options work well including windows, door locks, cruise control, both front power seats, heated mirrors and rear defrost, climate control, power trunk and power pull-down. Radio and tape player work well but power antenna is broken. 4 cigarette lighters and all work. Tilt and telescope steering wheel. The car needs a heater core. It was the only part of the cooling system i did not replace and it just very recently began to show signs of leakage from under the car in front of the catalytic converter but still blows very warm heat inside the car. The climate control works perfectly but only blows air from the floor vents. All the air comes out of the floor vents for some reason, will not come out of the dash or defroster vents. I was told this could be due to a vaccuum leak. It also sounds like there is a small exhaust leak towards the front of the exhaust system but it isn't very loud at all. One of the steel brake lines to the front brakes is in need of replacement. The passenger side front door is frozen shut and will not open. I believe it is the rod that connects to the door handle inside the door that has fallen off. The wipers work well, but the switch is a bit squirrelly and you have to get it in the right spot. The only rust on the car is on the back bumper where it is starting to bubble and a small hole that the previous owner patched with chrome tape which was a very common thing with these cars. Other than that, the car always starts right up, runs and drives very well and smooth, shifts very smooth and has been very dependable. I get 17 miles per gallon in the city and 24mpg on the highway. The title is clear and in my name. The car was recently inspected and has a current New York State sticker in the window good until next November. The only thing the car needs to drive home is the front brake line. I would not hesitate to drive the car anywhere as I took 4 trips with it this year, 2 of them with round trip mileage of 800 miles and 2 with round trip mileage of 1600 miles and it ran perfect and strong! I work three jobs now and total 70 miles per day, so the only reason I am looking to sell it is because I want something smaller and 4cyl.
