Vehicle Detail
I have for sale this very RARE 1986 Toyota Camry Turbo Diesel (2.0L) Sedan . This is a factory diesel that was sold in the states. I am an avid lover of diesels and this is my 4th Toyota diesel out of 5 I have owned. This car will achieve 45-50mpg highway and 36-40mpg city when in good running condition. These motors are very easy to work on and parts are quite readily available believe it or not. More detail in description to come tomorrow. I absolutely love Toyota diesels and I am sad to have to sell my collection. I hope they will go to other diesel lovers to cherish and enjoy what a diesel has to offer. If you have any other questions or request any other pictures I am sure I can answer them and have the pictures. I have many detailed pictures. Please call me anytime on my cell phone for immediate questions: Travis - 904-234-5479 I have this car for sale locally as well. I may end auction early due to a local sale. Thank you for looking at my diesel. On Jan-28-11 at 19:57:54 PST, seller added the following information: The detail has arrived on this wonderful piece of machinery! As I see you diesel lovers out there have already decided you want this item. Here is the story behind this car. I purchased it from the second owner out of Texas and had it shipped back not running. The car had been sitting in a field next to his house for 4 years or so. It was his daily driver for years and then he decided to park it, to not pay for expensive diesel, and drive his other vehicle. He stated the original owner of the car was an old man who took meticulous care of the car, as you can tell, its mint inside. And all the records, even oil changes/fuel fill ups/ect. were recorded with mileage! Can you say this guy was about detail. So the second decided to try and keep the records going. I have all the records for the most part as he did a good job of keeping up. When I got the car there was no battery in it, the tires were shot, and it was filthy. I put a new battery in the car, purchased new tires all around, and refinished the rims (sandblasted, painted, center caps are all original! just cleaned). I cleaned the cars exterior but it has since gotten dusty. I never go to cleaning the interior fully. As you can see it's still a bit dirty. The has an added kill switch hooked up to the injector pump wiring and battery that is located under the driver seat, that is the part of the 2 white wires running on top of the engine. I changed the oil and worked on starting the vehicle. The diesel in the tank is extremely old and needs to be drained, I should have done this but was in a hurry to see if it would start. The glow plug circuit is not working (the box that is opened up to try and repair it, located by the brake reservoir in the picture). I manually heated the glow plugs and with slight carburetor cleaner usage (I know this is frowned upon with diesels) I was able to get it to run for roughly 1-2 minutes. The engine sounded fine but I cannot guarantee no issues of course as it is a 24yr old vehicle. I have not drive the car at all but I am sure the transmission just needs a fluid/filter change as these automatics are bulletproof (readily available used too). The front windshield has a decent sized break in the upper passenger side by the top molding. The second owner ran into an owl while driving one night. The passenger rear fender has one dent that is linear in shape right by the trunk side. This could be worked out to almost nothing by a decent dent repair man. As you can tell the paint is a bit rough on the hood/roof/deck-lid as it was sitting in the Texas sunshine for years. Can you believe the owner wasn't out there waxing it!? haha There is really no other rust to speak of on the car, very straight as captured in the pictures. I also have a spare 2.0L engine I could sell extra with this car. The head is off and dis-assembled (most parts missing, but good core if you have head problems in future). The block is seized, I have tried to free it up, so it would need a rebuild (all bearings are available.) I also have a spare injection pump (would recommend a rebuild of it, roughly $350), spare turbo (new bearings installed), spare alternator, and a spare starter. Good luck and keep that diesel power alive! The 1984 Toyota Camry Turbo Diesel that is sitting behind it in the pictures is also for sale, that was my daily driver for 6 months then a weekend/trip warrior. That will be listed tomorrow for sale.
