Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE 1990 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62 4.2L straight 6 cyl, EFI, AT, 200,800 miles. This is my daily driver. It’s in great shape and it looks awesome! I’d have no worries about driving it cross country….I’ve done it in my other cruisers! This is the newest one that I’ve owned. I have owned it since May of 2009. It was my 3rd FJ62 Cruiser in the driveway and being so I drove it very little at first. However I’ve since sold my ’89 FJ62 and traded my ’85 FJ60 for a Mercedes and also sold my ’78 FJ40 in September. I’ve had much experience now with Cruisers and can tell you a lot about this one. I bought it as an extra vehicle… The guy I bought it from had it parked for about 3 years in his driveway and didn’t drive it… I had a miss in the engine and he didn’t want to invest in money in fixing it… Well, $125 dollars for parts and labor for a cleaning of the injectors fixed that issue. The paint wasn't the best, but it really didn't have rust on the body. I mounted the some newer tires on it and drove it without any problems since. Recently, and I mean in the last 4 months I’ve invested about $2500.00 into it. The interior was originally gray and had been used pretty hard, so I switched the entire interior from my ’85 FJ60 which was in really good condition, and I preferred much more. So now the interior is brown and tan. The only downside was that the FJ60 was a manual and the FJ62 is an automatic, so the carpet at the shifter had a weird hole where they differed in shifter location. I’ve fabed a piece of diamond plate aluminum for that. Also I have alum under the two front seats for a similar reason. (see pics) The only thing that’s grey that needs to be brown is the shifter handle. Here is a list of updates performed since I’ve owned it the last 1 1/2 years: New Paint (August 2010) I’m going to have a few little things touched up (see pics/video)Alignment and tire rotate/balance (January 2011) New Belts, Front pads, New brake caliper, new shifter bushings/adjustment. (September 2010) New VA State Inspection and had the emergency brake adjusted. (September 2010) (4) New BFG All terrains 31 X 10.5 (September 2010) Castrol Oil with Lucas Oil Stabilizer and K & N oil filter (October 2010) New muffler (August 2010) Optima Yellow Top battery. K & N Air Filter (July 2010) Warn locking hubs. New spark plugs/wires/cap and rotor (OEM Toyota parts, June 2009)Old Man Emu Shocks and Steering Stabilzer. It has a Kenwood CD player and new JBL speakers in the rear. A/C blows COLD, Heat works great. It has a rear heater too. 4 wheel drive works great, Shifts into 4 x 4 high with the push of a button. All buttons, switches and controls work. Power windows, door looks and power mirrors function properly. I also have some of the maintenance records for the Cruiser back to 1999 from the local Toyota Dealer. Please keep in mind that this is a 20 year old vehicle and considering its age it is in great condition. Thing that will need attention: 1. Interior has a tear in driver’s seat. (see pics/video) 2. Crack in dash pad. 3. Console hinge broke 4. There is a slight clunk when shifting between Park, Reverse and Drive. This is a common issue with the A440 transmission. I’ve had this checked out by a local transmission shop and they said it would be fine. It does NOT affect how it drives. The transmission shifts smoothly and properly. 5. There is a slight oil drip. 6. Radio antenna is broke. 7. The spare tire is not mounted underneath, but I do have it. This is a great Land Cruiser, and has many miles left to give! I have described the Cruiser to the best of my ability, the good and bad. If you have any questions please feel free to email me.
