Vehicle Detail
This is being relisted due to a DEAD BEAT winning bidder the previous go around. So, please, if you do not intend to buy, do not bid. Canada and US bidders ONLY, NO FOREIGN BIDS. Up front I will tell you this truck is not running and the wood bed has long since returned to Mother Earth, but this 1949 F-2 Truck is otherwise amazingly complete. Originally from Northern Arkansas and bought by me in Monett, Missouri. Until 1990 it was a daily driver for a woman who decided it was time for auto tranny, A/C, and the like. So she parked it one day and that was the last time it ran. She told me the original owners ran a small film production company, then sold it to her dad and he gave it to her. True or not, it was obvious to me that this truck was not a farm truck, it was just not beaten the way they normally are. My wife and I bought it thinking it would be something we could work on together but other interests have short-circuited that idea. So now it is your chance. Sheet metal as you can see it very nice. All the trim seems to be there. Engine is the 8BA 239 Flathead V8 with oil bath air cleaner. Four speed non-synchro transmission with Granny low. Wheels are heavy steel 16 x 6 Standard 8-lug one piece rim with center disc riveted to the rim. Accepts modern tubeless tires without a hitch. For an extra $300 I also can send you away with 16 x 8 wheels for a wider rear tire; those were custom made by Stockton wheel with an OEM center disc to take the same hubcap as the fronts. No radio but it has the original Ford heater, a common delete at that time. Dash has been unmolested. Cab is in fine condition, the floor is solid and intact. Eight foot bed on these F-2's; the sides have some rust through where wood was in contact, tailgate needs work, I would replace the stake pockets. All other sheet metal needs only minor rust patching as do the running boards but overall solid. Instrument panel and gauges have been restored. Gas tank has been restored by "Gas Tank Renew". I do have the hubcaps but they are fair at best but readily available. The engine is free and loose, I just checked it. The truck will roll freely, so plan on that for loading and transport. Weight "by the book" is 4840 lbs.I can provide dimensions to the winning bidder. Far as I know the box uses the same headwall and tailgate as the common F-1. Sides are longer. I welcome any other questions. Finally, all door handles, logos and trim are intact but need replating. Study the pictures and see if this is the kind of project that you are looking for. Thanks.
