Vehicle Detail

1973 International Scout II. Acquired in 2004 by Seller. Extensive body work including patch panels, floorpans, new sheet metal in bed, new OEM spec rear sill crossbeam; also new crossbeam midway under the bed. Tailgate works great. Also installed all new polyurethane body bushings. Original Seat reupholstered by professional. New indoor/outdoor carpet installed inside. Mufflers converted to dual and ran out the sides in back. Recent battery replacement. All vital belts and hoses replaced since acquisition. Radiator refurbished. Gaskets installed in front of engine, new thermostat, water pump, solenoid, spark plug wires, etc. Carburetor rebuilt. The top was rusted around the windows and thus was cut to convert truck to a pickup with a hangover shelf in back to keep items somewhat dry in the back - great to store backpacks, tent, etc. Tires were put on when acquired at around 72000 miles. Currently has approximately 86,275 (see photo). Truck needs repack of wheel bearings in front, but otherwise runs great. The rear brakes were just overhauled (new pads, brake cylinders and turned drums) by Parks Chevrolet in Huntersville, NC. Truck has a slight electrical drain when the lights are running, but the lights work fine. I have put my heart and soul into this truck but it is time to let someone else take it and install a lift kit, paint and bigger tires. This Scout was sanded and painted with a black epoxy (sandable) paint similar to primer in the fall of 2008, after body repair, and has been garaged since - this truck has very little or no rust on the outside, and I have painted underneath with primer where I could. The truck sits slightly higher on the right side, which should be corrected with new springs. But it does not affect handling as far as I am concerned. It has a 1 to 1 four wheel ratio (pull rod on dash similar to the hood release engages 4 wheel drive) - very rare.
