Here's a 1997 Dodge truck. I will explain in detail the best I can, and not leave out a thing or two that may not make it an attractive purchase, such as the guy I bought it from. The Good: This truck is a SOLID truck. I did not POR like the guy I bought it from.. I sanded the spots on the bed welded the spots, filled and primed. The rocker I replaced with a patch panel. I think the inside lower section of door may be starting to show some surface rust, but I assure you, this truck is solid, tailgate and all. the tires have some meat on them. The breaks are solid. The cap is nice (watch your head, the gas shocks are not as strong as they use to be) the glass is good, a real small chip near the rear view window. The motor runs strong, perhaps the put in a new one or worked on the original a while back. The Bad: The truck does have those few rust areas that were repaired. The heater only blows through the defrost, never bothered me, but I tried to replace the control to no help, found a broken vaccum line to the unit, did a fast patch and no help, perhaps a new line would help. AC does not work, but that could be the controller issue. The chip in the windshield. Seat is torn, thats about the worse thing of the interior, all else is nice.The gas shocks in cap. and yes there is a bad one.... The other day I pulled in my lot, parked it and that was it for the tranny going into reverse... Not sure of the issue, but it will go forward, but not backwards. I will pull it back so someone can start it and take it around the block, but thats it... This truck is being sold locally as well. You are buying this truck as is, where is. You are buying this truck assuming it has a bad tranny and a tired motor since it has so many miles. O ya... The 4x4 worked a week or two ago, I tested it in the mud in front of my office... I did not take it on a trail or anything..Just in some mud. I am taking cash offers. Put a hitch and wiring on it. I think AM/FM Cassette. Started right up and the motor ran strong before trany issue. UPDATE: 12.9.2010 I added trany fluid and it moved back a smidge, just acted as though it didnt have enough power??? But it moves forward great and 4x4 worked good, not sure why it wont go backwards and quite frankly not interested in finding out why. You may find it's fluid issue or MUCH MUCH worse.. Make me an offer but remember this is a AS IS, Where IS auction. If you were to ask me if you can drive it home and you live in Erie or Cleveland or Pittsburgh I would think you could, just don't put yourself in a position where you have to back up, but then again this is just a guess on my part and I suggest you have a back up plan. Think I am going to part it out if I don't sell soon. Would love to sell this weekend. I need the plates! JUST IN CASE SOMEONE HAS SAME THOUGHTS, HERE'S MY RESPONSE.: Hi, I have same Dodge also and the issues's you are having with the trans are common with this truck.The trans is shot and the repair is $1200.00. With that said after the repair it should be fine. Does the engine knock when cold? I am interested in the truck but not at $2500. I will offer you $700 cash. Pick it up this weekend. I will have to disagree with some of your message. The truck is worth well above your $700 estimate. The motor runs strong, the 4x4 works great, the body is solid unlike most trucks of this year. The bed is solid and it has a nice cap on it, shocks not so good on the cap so watching your head while leaning in is recommended! :) Thank you for your interest though. Lowest is 2k, period. p.s.
