Vehicle Detail
Up for bids is this extremely rare NUMBERS MATCHING 1970 Dodge Charger R/T SE. It is all #'s matching(F 440 HP) with 94000 original miles. It is black on black and runs and drives excellent. I have owned this car for quite a few years, and the resto started in the mid 90s. i finished it up in 2007 and it rarely sees daylight. The car is completely rust free and has no dings or dents, only a few surface scratches to be expected with black. it was painted in 1997 believe it or not. The motor is .030 over and only has around 200 miles on it since being rebuilt. I added chrome valve covers, chrome alternator, coil, and chrome air cleaner. I used an older pic of the engine bay only because the one i took the other night came out blurry. It now has the chrome air cleaner and a high performance aluminum radiator. I think i have the rad and a dual snorkel air cleaner if high bidder wants. It also has electronic ignition. Wiper motor was rebuilt at a cost of $350. The car was not rusty to begin with, but the shop took no chances, and replaced the quarters and trunk floor pan. You will not find a more solid car. I do not have a fender tag or build sheet with this car, the fender tag was misplaced during restoration unfortunately. The car still had it's SE door panels and all woodgrain dash when i bought the car. I'll get to the story with that in a bit. The car has LOTS of new and custom touches. I built this car for my wife, so i made a few modifications to her tastes, but did nothing that can't be easily changed back to save originality of the car. I added disc brakes to the car, i also added the $1500 classic auto air setup that works flawlessly and blows ICE COLD. i mean literally it will blow you out on the lowest setting! The radiator was changed to an aluminum one because with the A/C on the car liked to climb up to 210-220 in traffic. As you can see, the taillight bezel was dipped in chrome for a custom(and better than factory in my opinion) look. Some of the other new parts include new: gas tank, lines, electronic ignition, triple chrome plated bumpers, door handles, headlights, front turn signals, hood turn signals, front suspension bushings, and the list goes on. The interior is in mint condition. The carpet is new, headliner is new. door panels are new. The interior is what i changed the most. My wife(and myself too truthfully) couldn't stand the faux woodgrain interior on these cars, and being an SE, this car was loaded with it. We opted for normal black door panels, 68 style chrome ribbed console top plates, custom pistol grip style shifter with one off custom handles made by gunslinger, normal black dash bezels. (the wife loves chrome!). the interior has all working gauges, including the tach and clock! it has a working 6 way adjustable seat, and of course still retains it's SE pedal chrome dress up. Custom steering wheel. I put the aftermarket A/C vents in the factory locations, but they are actually non A/C pads, just a cool custom touch, it looks factory! I blacked out the windows and you cannot see in them.. makes for a killer look being black on black! The car originally had 15" rallyes on it, i put on Coys custom 17x8 chrome wheels with brand new hemi leaf springs in back to give it a nice stance and look. All in all this is a beautiful 1970 Charger R/T SE that you can enjoy as is, or baby it and just stare at it in the garage as we pretty much do... over $65k has been spent on this car over the years, and you CAN NOT build a car anywhere close to where this car is for what i have in it. EVERYTHING works on this car, electric headlight doors, hood turn signals(new), gauges(tach too!)., A/C, power disc brakes, etc. The exhaust is dual and i replaced it 3 years ago. Sounds awesome. REASON FOR SELLING: i started a business and i would like to have more "start up funds". Don't miss out you do not see 70 R/T's for the price i put on this car. I am taking a huge loss, so please serious bidders only. i have a clear title in my name. The car has just over 94000 miles on it. The original cluster was in the car when i got it with 93998 miles, and the title was actual miles. i am pretty sure i kept a copy of that title. i used a different cluster in the restoration so basically i guess you'll have to take my word on the miles now. :( In Louisiana any vehicle over 10 years old or odler gets branded EXEMPT on miles anyway. good luck bidding if you have any questions please ask. If it sells fine if not that's fine too. I did not put the reserve at make believe 2006-2007 prices, it is priced based on 2010 prices, in fact most guys with R/T clones are asking what i put the reserve at. so if you want a quality REAL #'s matching R/T at a fair price, this is the one you're looking for. I reserve the right to end this auction early at any time for any reason, as car is for sale locally. As you can see by the pics, it somewhat resembles the fast and the furious car. That was what i modeled it after.. I do have a tunnel ram intake with the mr gasket triple flap scoop like in the movie, and a spare MINT rust free hood that could be added to the winning bid for the right price if the high bidder wishes to go that route. i couldn't bring myself to do it. Yes the other cars in the pics are mine, but no they are not for sale. i am only selling this one car. Remember you may see other R/T's for sale on ebay, but if they're not numbers matching they're not as valuable as one that is.
