Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a unique Mercury Cougar Eliminator. This car is only 1 of 111 Cougar Eliminators built with a sunroof as a factory option in 1969. Ford only built 102 in 1970 and all the Sunroof Eliminators were built for the Hertz Rental Car Company for their Rent-a-racer program. You could not order an Eliminator with a sunroof otherwise. I purchased this car in 2002 and have not worked on it since I purchased it. I am unsure I will ever get around to it. The car comes with a clear title, taxes up to date, Marti Report, original 351 engine, original rear end, interior. This is a complete car but will need a complete restoration. I have the correct spoiler and hood scoop but will be listing them separately as I purchased them separate from the car. I have attached a picture of the Marti Report confirming this car is a real Eliminator equipped with a sunroof. The VIN and Door Data Decodes as follows:9 - 1969F - Built at Dearborn91 - Cougar HardtopM - 351-4V65A - Cougar Hardtop9 - Bright Yellow Paint - Eliminator Only5A - Black Vinyl High Back Bucket Seats01D Scheduled for Build: April 1, 196941 - Chicago Ordering District6 - 3.00 Standard Axle RatioX - FMX Transmission The transmission that is currently in the car is a small case C6, not the original FMX. The rust in the car is typical for Ford, rockers, floors, torque boxes, upper fender aprons etc... Since I purchased the car I took apart the front body panels (suspension is still attached) and grille. I disassembled the engine and had it checked out at a machine shop to see what it would need (currently std., will need to go 30 over and the standard crank will need 0.10 grind). I have a set of 69 wheels to go with it but not the original Eliminator wheels. I have stored this car in my shop since the purchase and it has a lot of body shop dust all over it but I always made sure it was stored inside since I purchased it. I will need full payment within 3 days after the auctions end. Looking for a project car? This is the one for you!! If you would like to see the car or ask questions please call Jeff at 502-445-3993.
