Vehicle Detail

4.0 1996 Jeep ZJ - Grand Cherokee - Smoke Free 4x4 Ready for the Snow. Sold with 4 BFG Mud tires plus a second set of OEM rims in great condition with 4 like new BFG AT Tires + a full size spare. This is my own personal Jeep Grand Cherokee that has served me well for a long long time. I am the second owner and purchased it back when it had around 80,000 miles on it. It now has just over 200,000 miles on it and while the engine still starts and runs pretty well it sometimes unexpectedly stalls for no apparent reason. This Jeep passed the 2010 Delaware State Inspection. When this was my primary vehicle I never had to plow my driveway because in 4x4 I could just ride through /over any snow we got. This Jeep has been on road trips to Oregon, Washington, California and a number of other beautiful locations. Seeing as there are not many good offroad trails anywhere in southern Delaware this Jeep has seen very little offroad use and seeing as though southern Delaware receives very little snow it has seen very little use in 4wd. Being a 1996 the paint is only in fair condition. There is no rust but there are some scratches and areas where the paint is nowhere near as good as new, primarily on the hood. There is a small hole under the passenger side lock where the car was broken into in Oregon almost six years ago. The stereo was stolen but not the Jeep. The power seats can blow a fuse if a fat person is sitting in them. Solution = only give rides to thin people or use a bigger fuse. The glove box has been removed because the hinge had issues. I still have the glove box and will include it in the sale. The drivers side seat has a rip in the left side. The carpet and dashboard are in very good condition with no major flaws. YOUTUBE VIDEO: 4.0 with 200,xxx miles on it. I was the second owner and purchased it when it had around 80,000.4X4 Selec-Trac with 2WD, 4 Part Time, 4 Full Time, Neutral and 4 LowBlack power seatsGrey interior.Aftermarket Aiwa MP3 stereo and Kenwood speakers.Flowmaster stainless steel exhaust.2? budget lift.New Rancho shocks all the way around. Backs replaced 200 miles ago. New fronts still in the box. Older high mileage Edlebrock IAS Currently on the front.Class ? either 3 or 5 Trailer hitch. Transmission replaced around 170,000 miles.30 x 9.50 R15 LT ” BFG mud tires at 75% plus an additional set of four OEM 15? alloy rims and BFG AT tires at around 90% . + a Fifth OEM Rim and Spare Tire. (That's a total of NINE OEM RIMS and NINE Tires) New front hubs 200 miles ago.New front axle shafts 200 miles ago and I’ll throw in the old ones as spares.New Interstate Megatron II BatteryPaint = fairInterior = good except for the torn driver seat.Additional stuff: New Grey cloth factory seat covers that have never been used. Use them to cover the ripped driver seat. Front rubber floor mats and rear cargo area rubber mat to protect the carpets.Four Yakama Roof Rack supports to assist in carrying Kayaks, Mt. Bike or whatever you wish to carry on the roof. Know Issues: There is a phantom electrical load that will drain the battery if you don’t drive it at least a few times a week. As a solution I put a kill switch on the new Interstate Megatron II battery and turn it off if I know it is going to sit more than a few days without use.The engine sounds fine when it runs but every now and then will stall out for no reason. I drove it all spring and it ran fine then it acted up for a month in the beginning of the summer after that it ran strong all summer then it acted up a bit more this fall. More than likely it is a TPS or other sensor issue.Small hole under the passenger side door lock where the car was broken into on a vacation to Portland Oregon. I never repaired it and it has been this way for almost 6 years. Most people don’t notice it. It’s less than a quarter inch wide.Drivers seat has a rip in the side.Interior is pretty good, carpets are clean, no kids ever rode in the back seat, non smoker, dash is clean.Glove Box was removed because there was an issue with the hinge. I still have it and will include it in the sale.Paint is only fair, there are some light scuffs on the sides and hood from contact with bushes while off road. I realize the engine has 200,000 miles on it and will more than likely need to be replaced in the next 2000 – 20,000 miles but you never know, you could get lucky and get another 100,000 out of it, some of these 4.0 engines can get half a million miles on them. The engine was never abused and the oil was always changed every 3000 - 4000 miles. Both axles are in good condition, the transfer case works great, the transmission was rebuilt by AAMCO back around 170,000 miles, the frame is straight and the jeep was never in an accident, the frame is 95% rust free because the Jeep has always been in Delaware with almost no snow or salt on the roads. You can buy a very nice re-manufactured 4.0 Jeep engine from Titan Engines for $1500 or go with a 4.6 Jeep Stroker Engine for just under $2500. Titan builds a lot of engines for JeepSpeed off road rally Jeeps. My plans for this 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee were to build something similar to a JeepSpeed Racer with a stroker engine, taller lift, roll cage, ford 8.8 rear differential and 35? tires. I’m moving to a new house without a garage and just won’t be able to do any of this work or have a place to store it. The Jeep is in Southern Delaware and available to be test driven seven days a week.
