DESCRIPTION:
This 1991 Mercedes 560SEC was the flagship coupe in Mercedes line-up during its era. This 560 coupe looks, runs and drives very good, but it is now due for some more maintenance. We are Auto Haus, a car dealer specializing in German automobiles and we are selling this car on behalf of the current owner (our customer) who just bought another Mercedes from us. We have records from the current owner dating back to 2003 and we worked on the car for many years before that, but we changed computer systems in 2003 and lost all our files prior to that date.
Outside, the exterior paint, while not original, looks amazing with only a few tiny paint chips and light scratches in the gloss black paint here and there. Only the gray front bumper has a lot of paint chips, scrapes and scratches. That bumper's bottom valance is broken in a couple spots, but is braced and screwed together (see pics below). The rear bumper has a couple deep scratches and a large paint chip in the center. A repaint of the front and rear bumpers would make this coupe look almost new outside. The alloy wheels look great with only very minor brake dust etching. The Michelin tires are cupped and will not pass State Inspection. The chrome looks good outside as does all the trim pieces. Inside the car looks real nice. The leather seats are all in very good to excellent condition except for the driver's seat where the side bolster has a 2" hole in the leather. The carpet looks good, but there is a piece that needs to be reglued in the passenger's footwell area. The dash looks almost new as does the wood trim. The only area of deficiency inside is the headliner, the two rear trim panels on the "B" Pillars, the rear seat belts, and a broken piece of plastic beside the left rear window (see pics below). The headliner is dirty and coming unglued and the rear trim pieces are loose due to broken clips. The rear seat belts won't fully retract. Other than those items the interior is great! One other item to mention is that all the windows (except the windshield) have an aftermarket tint. The tint on the side glass is very light, but the rear glass has a dark tint. It is all legal in the State of Virginia.
Mechanically, this car has been well maintained, but it is ready for some more maintenance. The current VA State Inspection runs out in December and unfortunately, most of the items needing repair are State Inspection issues that will need to be fixed before driving the car very much. The following is a list of mechanical problems with this car. The inspection items will have an asterisk by them: The front tires are cupped and need replacing*, the front suspension bushings are bad*, the right rear wheel bearing has a lot of play*, the left tailight is out*, there is a fuel leak in the injectors*, both lower ball joints are bad*, the brake support bushings are both bad*, both motor mounts are bad*, the power steering line is leaking*, the windshield washer is inoperative, the valve covers are leaking oil, and the car is due for an oil change. The repairs will cost $2,500 to $3,000 for us to fix everything. In addition, to those items, a couple items that don't need repair now are: the car has a noisy fuel pump (works fine)and an idle that goes up and down slightly (engine still runs great with excellent power). Electronically, everything works as it should.
If you want to own a loaded luxury Mercedes coupe that just needs some mechanical repairs to 100%, then hit our BUY IT NOW or take your chances on hitting the lower Reserve price and hope noone outbids you. Cosmetically, this car is a nice example of a 1991 Mercedes 560 SEC coupe even with the high miles.
