Up for auction is this 1969 Austin Healey Sprite Convertible. It belonged to a good friend of mine who has owned it for the past 11 years. This past year we aquired it as a trade in from him. The car needs to be restored but appears to be a decent platform to start with. It has a 4 cylinder engine with 4 speed manual transmission. He said it drove fine when he purchased it 11 years ago, put it in his heated cellar and started taking it apart to get it ready for restoration. As we all know, these projects dont always get off the ground and this one is no exception. He purchased a lot of new parts for it, had a few rust spots repaired, had it in partial primer and then left it next to the furnace. We brought the car into the garage and started bolting some of it back together. We finished priming the spots that were left unattended. Seats are just sitting in place. We have not tried to start the car, just put in a battery and made sure that it turns over and it does, radiator still holding anti freeze. Clutch pedal barely pushes so I dont know if something is out of adjustment or stuck. Brakes still work as does the E-brake. The car rolls fine for loading. The main body shell is reasonably solid, floor pan is in decent shape, there is a few spots that have been glassed in, trunk pan has had a piece welded on top but the bottom section is still original to the car and looks saveable. The frame on the car looks good and solid. There was some old undercoating hanging so I scraped it clean and took some pics. Convertible top bows are in excellent condition just no material. I have some new parts for the car which include, new front and rear bumpers, new bumper guards, new windshield in the box, front parking lights with housings, new headlight buckets with gaskets, plate light chrome, grille emblem, trunk script, new passenger and drivers mirrors, front brake shoes for the disc brakes and rear shoes for the drum brakes and new heater box and core. There are some other used items from another car that will be included also. This will make someone a nice restoration project for the winter. Doesnt take up much room either. Car will be sold on a Maine dealer bill of sale with transfer forms. This will work in most states for title purposes. If you need an actual registration, I am willing to do that but there will be an extra fee.
