Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 1970 Pontiac Tempest 2 Door Hard Top. It has been sitting in storage since 1996 when it was brougThis auction is ht up from Texas. Still has the 1996 inspection sticker from texas. Part of the time it sat outside under a tarp which didnt do much for the car. It appears from what I was told that the prior owner was going to make a GTO clone out of this and started doing some of the prep work. Trunk floor and interior floor were left in a sanded down state. We cleaned them up and put primer on them so they wouldnt get any worse. Will need two front floor pans but rest of the floors are real solid. Trunk pan has a few spots but is fixable. Frame is good and solid. Rockers and inner rockers and all braces are in nice shape also. Does have a little rust through on the bottom of the drivers side front fender, door corner and corner of lower rear quarter. Passenger side fender and door bottom have bubbling but nothing through. Passenger lower rear quarter does have some rust through. Both rear quarter wheel house lips and inner tubs are solid. The backs of both rear quarters just above the rear bumper have rust through. The car has all of its original panels so I feel that they should be repaired rather then cut. Trunk lid and hood have rust through on the undersides so they will need to be replaced. The car is an original 350 V-8 2BBL with 3 Speed Manual Trans, factor Hurst shifter, no PS or PB. Has 65,000 actual miles. I know it doesnt look like much under the hood but the running gear is real nice! I freed up the carburator, installed a new set of points and condenser and it fired right up. Once in a while the float sticks but just tap it and it comes right out of it. We have been starting it often and its getting better every time. One set of brake shoes was sticking on the front so they were removed. So at the moment there is no brakes. You would want to go through them anyway from sitting that length of time. I am surprised that the dual exhaust system is still quiet. Looks like it was replaced just before they put the car up. Both bumpers are in very nice shape also. 4 like new tires on factory rally wheels, no trim rings or centers. I have a nice fiber glass nose cone to replace the broken one on the car. I also have a nice original style hood and very fixable trunk lid to replace the ones on the car. These will be included in the sale. We have the original seat belts and jack that will be included also. We do have a decent pair of original 1970 GTO front fenders and GTO hood with tach cut out (no tach) that is availble at extra cost. This would be a good father and daughter or son project. Maine does not require titles on vintage vehicles so it will come with a dealer bill of sale and paperwork. If you require a title in your state, I am willing to register the car but this will be at an $150 extra cost. I realize the holiday seasons are upon us, so if you are the winning bidder of the car and need a little extra time, I will take half of the sale price down and the balance within 30 days. The car remains here until paid for. Please check out my other auctions.
