Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a 1948 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet. Selling for a friend here in Dallas. I've seen the car, ridden in it, and been around it for many years. I can vouch for both the quality of the car and and the care she has received. So here goes; this is his description of this beautiful old Lincoln. 1948 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet. An extremely rare antique classic. Only 452 copies of this model were produced as compared to the 48 Cadillac 62 ragtops production total of 6,755. Why/ At $2600 for the Cadillac and the Lincoln Sticker price of $4,756 similarly equipped, it's obvious she was not built for the masses. Standard equipment included power windows, top, and antenna. Don't forget the wonder-bar radio, full gauges, fat whitties, and push button doors. The only option offered on this unit was the overdrive transmission, which by the way this one has. I have owned this vehicle for 20 years. It was a gift to me from my father-who had owned it for 17 years... That's 37 years without EVER feeling rain or the darkness of night outdoors. (temperature controlled indoor accomodations) The V-12 flathead engine sits complete on an engine stand in my garage. It would need going through before using. My pappa, being raised during the depression, felt an overhead valve inline 6 (Ford of course) would suit his needs for economy and power. The remainder of the drivetrain is original... transmission, over-drive unit, and rear end are still in place and quite functional. This is not a trailer queen; she starts, runs, and rides quite well. 90 percent of the paint is the factory laquer she came with.!! You will find no bondo or rust. All original interior with the exception of carpet/padding and naugahyde seat panels. No rips or tears-she's sweet. radio powers up but no sound. Speedo was working when I got her. Is not now but I have not driven her over 500 miles. I took her out for a drive this afternoon. Ready to go when you are. So if it's a true rare classic you seek, this is well worth a look. I would love to meet the new potential owner in person as this is like a family memeber leaving the nest. For any question you may have or information you may need please call me during reasonable hours at 214-803-4042. My name is Michael. Give me a call and lets talk. The car is available for sale locally and nationally via other sources so step right up! Thanks for looking at my auction and thanks so much for your bids. Merry Christmas everybody. How would this look by the tree??? NADA Vintage Car Values have Low Retail at 35,100, Average at 44,900, and high Retail set at $66,400. Just a guide guys-the reserve is well below these numbers. Thanks
