Vehicle Detail
1929 Ford Model A Highboy Hot Rod This very unique, all steel Model A highboy hot rod was recently completed and just needs some engine help. (Car has less than 700 miles on it since completion.) Last month, the crankshaft broke while driving. The internal drivetrain components were original so the crank probably had a lot of miles on it. Unfortunately I don't have the time and money to fix the engine right now. It has been my pride and joy and is an absolute head turner. I chuckle when this hot rod draws a crowd everywhere I go - people just ignore my friends' cars that cost three times as much! I'm so sad to see it go. The hot rod is 50s/60s styled and has a great vintage feel to it. Most people don't realize it's actually a combination of parts (new and vintage) from multiple decades. The goal for the design was to create a generally traditional, mid-century look. It's loaded with unusual features and details. People gawk at the functional, full size vintage bowling pin shifter. Keep the car the way it is, or swap engines and get creative changing it around! I have recently had it professionally pinstriped (the OLD school way!) so please check out the photos toward the end. Most of the first pictures were taken beforehand and don't show the striping. The car rolls and is very light, so it will travel quite easily. I do not own a trailer so it will need to be picked up from my garage. I'll gladly work with you to arrange shipping at your cost. I'm happy to take additional photos and answer any questions. If you'd like to chat on the phone drop me a message here on eBay and we can talk! The body was pretty complete from an older restoration (such as the vinyl top, roof, and headliner, safety glass, etc). I'm guessing it was in the 60's or maybe 70's. The vinyl top gleams like new and only has a couple small wear spots (visible in the photos, by the front visor). Headliner looks very good with no sagging. These older elements mix well with the new to give the car some real character. I think it helps keep it looking vintage, instead of too new and sterile. There is a really bright LED strip 3rd brake light for safety. I mounted two tiny supermagnets on the glass that hold it in place. If you want to take it out for photos or a show, it just pops off and the wire unplugs from a small hidden outlet. Control for the JVC 12 disc CD changer (which is about the size of a matchbook) is mounted beneath the dash on a hinge. It flips up out of sight when not in use! The Aiwa stereo hidden under the driver's seat has an 1/8" aux input for an iPod, mp3 player, etc. I also hid a 12v power outlet inside the glovebox. On Dec-01-10 at 14:37:54 PST, seller added the following information: 12/1 4:32pm PLEASE READ: I just want to make sure everyone reads the very first part of the description and knows that the engine is not running. The crankshaft snapped on me while driving last month and I don't have the money to fix it, so I'm selling. The block may be rebuildable but I have not taken the engine apart to look at it. Nothing else is damaged, just the crank is seized up right now and won't turn. The crank pulley is at a slight angle, so I'm hoping it broke somewhere toward the front of the engine. It ran excellent and had a lot of power. I just wish I had the money and time to fix it because it wouldn't take much to swap engines, or rebuild if the block is still good. Feel free to ask questions. Thanks!
