Vehicle Detail
Looking for that perfect Christmas gift for your husband / wife / son / daughter? Tired of standing in line at Kohl's at 4 in the morning for a great deal? I've got just the thing- a Solar Red numbers matching Firebird from 1968! (Note: I will also sell this to someone who simply wants a Firebird and doesn't want to give a musclecar as a gift). Here are the details: Original Engine: 350 Pontiac Four Barrel Edlebrock Intake with Holly 650 Carb Long Tube Headers Dual Exhaust TH350 Transmission Power Steering Power Brakes Non A/C Car Limited Slip Differential Trim Tag says that the paint is the original color Original Interior - Black Vinyl / Bench Seat With Armrest My favorite things about this car: It's easy to drive, unlike some older musclecars that I've owned. It starts RIGHT up in the crisp fall weather. It runs strong. It's got a bench seat. I know they are not everyone's favorite, but the bench seat with armrest is fairly comfortable by 60's musclecar standards. The deep red paint really pops, and it's accented well by the clean vinyl top and the Firebird emblems. Overall, the car is very clean. I've never broken a rusty bolt on it; I've never found heart-sinking body rot. At the same time, I want to point out known issues with the car (it is 42 years old, after all): There is a stone chip on the passengers side rocker (shown in pics). There are some water spots on the passenger side fender. While I tried to take a picture of this, they did not show up on "film." There are 3 knicks on that same fender, shown in the pic. There are some small rust spots around the trunk lip, shown in the pics. There is a full size spare tire with a rim that matches the rims on the car. The tire on that spare does not hold air. Before I bought the car, a critter of some sort chewed a hole in the passengers side kick panel, shown in pics Pontiacs have rope seals in the rear main cap. They tend to leak slowly. This car is no exception. The car has what appears to be the original AM radio. While it looks very clean, it is not functioning. I am not sure what the issue is. Overall, this is a great car. It has a few blemishes, but it is cleaner than my 2003 and 2009 daily drivers. I have tried to document the blemishes in the pictures. Please send me a note if you'd like to see the car in person in Brighton, Michigan. I would be happy to show the car before you bid. A non-refundable paypal deposit of $200 is due within 48 hours of auction's end. The remainder of the payment is due within 7 days of auctions end in the form of cash. I will accept a cashiers check or bank check, but I won't release the car until said check clears. I really do prefer cash. I will not arrange for shipment of the car. I will drop it off at a depot for $1 / mile driven. If you have questions feel free to ask. I will usually respond within the day.On Nov-27-10 at 11:50:55 PST, seller added the following information: Update: I replaced the rear main seal with a graphite rope seal from Butler Performance ( a company that builds high performance Pontiac motors). The leak appears to have stopped. That being said, those engines are notorious for rear main leaks, even after the seals are replaced, so I will not go as far as to say that the problem is solved.
