Vehicle Detail
** Auction now includes 70+ Gallons WVO and Filters FREE! Read below ** Please watch the videos I made of the vehicle driving below. They answer lots of questions. Lifetime Vehicle This vehicle has a clear Illinois Title - it was stolen in 2001 (Recovered with no damage) but Title is NOT Salvage. If you've been looking for a diesel or a good veggie conversion candidate but want a super deal....here it is. This 1894 Mercedes Benz 300SD Turbo Diesel has been and outstanding daily driver. Religiously maintained, I would drive it to California without hesitation. It has been retrofitted with Biodiesel/Vegetable Oil resistant fuel lines. While most vehicles will start springing leaks after the first few months of running biofuels, this vehicle is equipped to combat the solvent properties of biodiesel and waste vegetable oil forever. The vehicle did have the Elsbett vegetable oil conversion system on the it but I removed that system after I was rear ended, causing the damage you see in the pictures. The vehicle does have the coolant T fittings still installed and capped off - so the hardest part of a veggie oil conversion is already done for you. If the auction ends with a bid over $900 I will also include my full Elsbett installation guide if you'd like it. I charge $620 for this guide but will give it free to the winning bidder over $900. It is a step by step pictorial guide written by me, a professional installer, and used by dozens of successful novices to install Elsbett veggie systems on their own vehicles. VIDEOS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKmKfzrqckw - Turbo Works! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlpY7aWrccc - Starting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DviJ4wIwYk - Driving http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpUvyZo56tc - Nightime Vehicle: Let's start with the vehicle itself. The W126 diesel model is renowned among Mercedes mechanics to obtain well in excess of 500,000 miles on the original motor. Intended for a lifetime of service without replacing the powertrain, this specific vehicle is excellent operationally. Originally a California car, it remained within the same family since purchased new from Mercedes. * 184,000 Original Miles - low for a diesel Mercedes. Engine runs endlessly and without a thought.* Only two owners* Autocheck indicates great condition and forecasts high reliability. * No rust on underbody and only one line of superficial rust 1/8" x 2" above the rear trunk lid. * Perfectly straight frame and uncompromissed underbody with thick factory rust protection fully intact.* 26 MPG* New NAPA Battery* Every Drive Belt (Power Steering, Alternator, Serpentine) has been replaced in the past 2,000 miles* Alernator regulator and brushes all replaced last winter. * Brand new front seat bottom cushion upholstery and armrest ($500 in material alone)* All jacking points fully intact* Most interior electronics work: Power driver and passenger seats, A/C and heat, Overhead and rear reading lights, Dash Display, Huge sunroof and two of the power windows* No suspension issues. Ball joints and tie rods tight/intact with excellent busing condition.* Turbo in perfect working order* Brakes/Rotors replaced within the last 8,000 miles* New glow plugs* New fuel return lines* I am now including, if you want it, 70+ gallons of unfiltered WVO with this vehicle. It's all in sealed containers from quality restaurants. I've collected it the past few months. I'm also throwing a few (I think I've got 5) sock filters (5 Micron) to get you started in filtering the oil. About Me: I professionally convert excellent older diesel mercedes to run on alternative fuels. I learned conversion techniques from a team of five trained and certified techs. I have converted over 30 vehicles from passenger cars to Semis and shuttle buses. I have a passion for Renewable Energy - I've been an active member of the Midwest Renewable Energy Association for 10 years and strive to make the use of biofuels seamless and accessible. What you should know: This vehicle has been my daily driver for nearly 3 years. I've owned and sold numerous diesel Mercedes over the years (still own 3) but this one has been my personal, reliable vehicle. It really bothers me that it was hit from behind in traffic. I figure it's easier to just sell it to someone who is better at body work than me. I am told that to even an amateur body worker could pull this damage without much trouble. I am a renewable energy guy, not a body guy. Damage: Rear bumper pushed in. Crumpled right rear quarter panel. Trunk was closed and latched after the accident but i opened it and now it won't close - Does NOT get wet inside when it rains. Front bumper slightly pushed in and front left headlight loosened when the vehicle was pushed into the car in front of it. Hood will close properly but must be adjusted to do so. For about 6 months now I just use the dual latching safety catches so the hood isn't too hard to open when I need it. This is not because of the accident but more because of the release latch adjuster cable being temperamental. * Like most older diesels, it takes about 60 seconds +/- for this car to warm up, depending on the outside temp. It's best not to drive the car until the fluids have had a chance to become less viscous -- properly coating and protecting all moving parts. The transmission fluid is especially thick and the trans won't be very responsive immediately upon startup. As I say, it takes about a minute to make an old (indirect injection) diesel happy. If you're looking for a getaway car, you better not get buy an old diesel! * Turn signal handle broken. Turn signal works but the handle cracked when I slipped on the ice.* Radio just stopped working. If you buy the radio, I'll put it in for free.* Radio antenna stuck in the up position. Will come down if you put 12v power to it directly.* Only two of the four electric door windows work, the Driver door and the passenger rear door windows both work. Good luck and bid with confidence! I have 100% positive feedback and stand behind this listing. Also, if you have general questions about vegetable oil/alternative fuels I'm always happy to help, but if you don't have serious interest in buying this vehicle please know that I'm inundated with questions lately -- it may take time to get back to you regarding general knowledge info... thanks for understanding. On Nov-21-10 at 13:25:30 PST, seller added the following information: *** BIG PERK! - I forgot to mention that the vehicle currently has a 6 disk pioneer cd player in the trunk. It works perfectly with a display/controller up front near the radio. It connects to any radio via an antenna splitter (already connected) and it sounds awesome. I will sell the Pioneer Disk Changer with the vehicle once final bidding reaches $700 or more. I'll remove it if the final bid is less than $700. GOOD LUCK AND BID AWAY!On Nov-21-10 at 15:30:23 PST, seller added the following information: I've answered questions from countless ebayers about this listing. I think people may be waiting until the last moment to bid -- which can be a good strategy if you don't care whether you win or lose. Please keep in mind that there are over 45 watchers on this item -- you may want to keep that in mind when making your proxy bid. Good Luck!
