Vehicle Detail
Solid bike, original paint, #'s matching, low miles. Clear title, VIN is CB750-1055014 and it has the original engine(#CB750E-1053707). There's a couple unique things about this bike like the KPH speedo, triple tree indicator light, painted air box and silver painted heat shields so possibly this is a bike produced for a market outside the US? If any CB750 experts want to educate me just email. The only things changed are fuel lines, tires(?), maintenance items like the battery and drive chain. Listed with NO RESERVE so bid like you want it. Fires up easily from dead cold but a proper carb synch is needed to tune it for reliability because it has been sitting for the last 3 years. Clutch lever feels good (not sloppy-has feel at the end) but the plates are probably stuck from sitting so you'll want to free them when you change the oil and do a thorough detail on the bike. You'll want to replace the front shock rubbers too. The desirable and model specific 69/70 side covers are included and have the mesh screens and all mounting tabs intact with only a 1/2" long crack starting at the right side lower mounting tab. Exhaust looks original and is marked HM300 and there are a few dings in the mufflers but the chrome is good and the metal solid with no holes. Fenders have great chrome with only a halfdollar sized ding on the front fender that has been worked back out (not really visible in the pics). Gas tank is super clean inside. The original gauges show 13,800 kilometers (8500 miles) and they look great - no crazing or sunfading or anything like that except the neutral indicator light lense has partially fallen back in like all the rest of the KO bikes. Correct early ignition switch that's sometimes finicky too, electric start button works and the kill switch 'kills' the engine. Headlight and taillight work, turn signals work and all 4 lenses match so they are probably original. The front rotor looks great with no heat marks or scoring. The seat is the original style 'ducktail' with the original seat fabric and Honda name across the back-no tears anywhere. Seat pan is solid and the battery tray electronics are original with original wiring that isn't all hacked up. The side stand foot bar is intact and the frame is perfect at the sidestand mount. Tires are Bridgestone brand with 8k miles of wear and no cracking or dry rot. I don't know if these are original tires but they could be this was a garaged bike. Rims are nice and clean with good chrome although someone has steelwooled a section of the front rim at some point. Missing front sprocket cover is included and original tool kit included too. All in all a very beautiful original bike worthy of your collection or do a detail and make it a show/sunny day only rider, either way you win because with the rise in early CB750 values heading towards the stratosphere you'll always get your money back out of it. I've received some tantilizing clues from the CB750 community, it seem this bike might be a home market bike which would explain the VIN and various mixture of K0 and K1 parts and 1970 title year. Thank you for your emails letting me know the VIN says 71 (for a US bike), one of you emailed asking for a photo of the build date/US spec tag that is located on the frame neck opposite the VIN and there is no tag but most importantly no holes where a tag would have been; yet another clue towards a Japan home market bike. Please keep your knowledgeable emails coming if you have more answers and feel free to call. Much appreciated, JimOn Dec-04-10 at 19:08:43 PST, seller added the following information: Ok, here's a quick rundown on some questions I've been getting: I took some more photos but eBay won't allow me to upload them so ALL the photos including the photos above are at this link: http://s171.photobucket.com/albums/u281/jamesweyand/?albumview=slideshow&track=share_email_album_view_click where you can view them in a larger size. The crash guard and rack were on the bike when I got it and the condition/'age' of the guard and rack matches the rest of the bike so these are probably Japanese market original Honda Accessories. The foot pegs are a fixed type and non-folding footpeg (pics also) which is another feature of a Japanese Domestic Market bike. Email if you have any other thoughts or questions or concerns. JimOn Dec-11-10 at 09:52:43 PST, seller added the following information: Found out what the red indicator light is for! I've received 2 different emails both saying the red indicator light on the triple tree in the middle between the dials is for Japan only and it flashes when you go over the (Japanese) speed limit! Basically, it's a speed limit warning light. I don't know how to set or adjust it and don't know at what KPH it starts flashing at, but here's another mystery feature of this bike deciphered. A couple emails have asked me if there is any case damage at the front sprocket and I just examined that area and there is no damage anywhere, even the little metal inner sprocket guard that fits closely around the front sprocket and behind the aluminum main sprocket cover is undamaged.
